This tweet was sent to me this morning. It is a response to someone trying poorly to criticise someone for celebrating a personal reading milestone, the response I’m sharing is brilliant and it applies to so many facets of life now. Particularly university cuts on staff, teaching, and courses.

I was today years old when I found out Lynch was invited to direct American Beauty, Motherless Brooklyn, and an American remake of The Ring. I’ve read Room to Dream before but I must have not processed this. How would these films look and work with him directing?

50+ degrees shuttered at UoN. Yet the prospectus indicates c.650 PGT/UG programmes in total. So how does 50 mostly UG cuts (from c.250 courses) equate to 'less than 5%' of the UoN offer? Am I failing to math @uonucu.bsky.social

Please do sign these petitions! The change.org website will ask you for money - if you would like to donate to help stop the cuts, the local UCU hardship fund is a much more effective place for your generosity to go.

My sixth or seventh viewing of Wise Blood (1979, directed by John Huston, and based on the novel by Flannery O'Connor). It's available on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzNs... Some screenshots follow. Rich and strange. I expect David Lynch was a huge admirer.

Have enjoyed speaking and presenting with Dr. Leora Hadas on Visuals in Kung Fu Panda at a Kung Fu Panda Symposium at Nottingham as supported by the British Council. Great to hear from one of the film’s directors, John Stevenson, on visual design and structure. Plenty of insightful work discussed.

As anyone who's watched "I Saw the TV Glow" should know, this is an *outstanding* match of storyteller and source material.
“I Saw the TV Glow” writer-director Jane Schoenbrun is doing a series at Netflix based on Charles Burns’ “Black Hole” comics (which also have a long on-off history with movie adaptations). Details here.
