Hi, I'm NevadaWolf. I live in northern Nevada. I like exploring, in person or by records. I've been all over this state and feel I've barely scratched the surface.

I'm random. I post whatever is on my mind and share pics I think others would like. Here's some that show my different interests.

This GOOD BOY ran onto the course during the Women’s Cross-Country Skiing Team Sprint event, crossing the finish line and being automatically recorded by OMEGA’s photofinish camera 😆

One of our members designed these boxes! The 3d printed zine holders work with many filament brand boxes, and they've uploaded all the printables as well.

Folks in our group have been bringing them to local businesses & then going back to refill!

Kept hearing a noise and thought it was snow sliding off the roof. Checked the camera and nope, it's my landlord shoveling the driveway and sidewalks.

Wow (from an article about the avalanche near Truckee today)

The Boreal Mountain Ski Resort, which is near Castle Peak, was reporting about 30 inches of snowfall over the past 24 hours.

A major avalanche in the "high risk" Avalanche Warning zone (per Sierra Avalanche Center) has occurred in the vicinity of Castle Peak, near Truckee. It unfortunately sounds like over a dozen people (skiers) were in the path, and some are still missing.

The avalanche happened near the town of Truckee. Ten of the skiers were unaccounted for, while rescue crews were headed toward the six others, authorities said.

I know its from an O2 ring I bought, not the official sleep study one. But anything under 5 is considered normal. Been fiddling with how high to raise the head of the bed and I think I found it.

They prob still won't like how low my oxygen gets but whatever. 😝

Hurm 🤔

Small things amuse me.

A woman older than me was helping me tonight. She told me "I can only stay until my Dad calls, then I gotta go."

We never grow up. ☺️

A provider's office just called. I didn't recognize the number so did my usual flat "This is Wolf" greeting. Before the guy replied, a bot cut in with "AI is taking notes."

Kept my answers very short and direct because of that. 😠

Was watching a (likely AI) video on 20 shelf stable foods for emergencies. Despite the visuals not matching the audio, the content seemed reasonable.

I did like the bit on hardtack. "The survival world version of the cockroach"

Apparently the very expensive new Corsair keyboard with a built in Stream Deck ALSO has a built in Copilot key.

As if the price wasn't enough reason to say no.

Thankfully keys can be remapped, but just no.

I suspect I had a very stereotypical view of the South until I moved there, but once you learn the uses of “bless your heart,” and that the default tea is hummingbird food, it’s really pretty normal unless you bring up BBQ sauce. People have some very weird notions about what it’s like.
If people did this shit about anywhere other than the American South- like if someone said they grew up in Kenya and another person was like “I’m so sorry” we would all quite rightly roast them. every place has good and bad qualities. the South isn’t evil
My deepest condoleances

Who Save America Act could disenfranchise:

-146 million without passport

-69 million married women who took spouse's last name

-21 million without ready access to citizenship docs

-21 million without current drivers license

-Rural voters forced to drive 4.5 hours to show docs at election office
You need to know about the SAVE Act, which recently passed in the House.

So here's a crash course from reporter Ari Berman on how the sweeping voter restriction bill could disenfranchise millions of Americans

Ruptured penstock owned by Yuba County Water Agency takes out 350 MW powerhouse and transformer station on north fork of the Yuba river. Deposits mud and silt downstream. Not sure it makes it to spawning habitat as there's a smaller dam downstream.

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.
