Running, cycling, parkrun, active travel. Can often be persuaded to partake of chocolate.
The theme for today's walk was water.

Lots and lots of water.

Amended my original planned route due to not being up for wading, but still managed a good 6-mile leg stretch. Almost no knee pain too, so fingers crossed that's settling down now 🤞

The pen is mightier and all that....
Here’s a short poem about the power of poetry to change the world.

A walk up the lane and another go on the exoskeleton (robo-legs)!

Such an amazing invention - already making a real difference to our leisure time and doing things together.

Plus, check out that sunset!!

A very dank and soggy #rutlandwater #parkrun this morning. A big well done to the 360 people who turned out to walk, jog and run - and massive thanks to our damp volunteers ❤️.

A slow one for me - knee not quite right but change of shoe helped! 👍

Toad-in-the-hole and roast potatoes for tea. Nutritional benefit of a bath sponge, and exceptionally diet-unfriendly.... but my goodness, it was good!

Probably not the best pre-gym fuel, if I'm totally honest 🤪

Absolutely gridlocked in #stamford earlier, due to roadworks and school traffic.

Was I glad I was on my e-bike and zipping past it all? Why, yes - yes, I was!

First day back at work after my New Year break.

Just about ready for another holiday now...

Very cold but no ice, so all good to get back on the e-bike to pilates this evening. Felt so much better than having to drive - even cycling home in sleety rain felt refreshing and clean.

Love my e-bike!

This is a very good thread, all credit to @monkemma.bsky.social.

But does beg the question, why aren't the mainstream media doing this more often. Surely this is standard investigative journalism - or used to be when I worked on local papers many years ago...
I was asked to look at this post!

And while the story obviously has important context that’s missing from the headline - which I’ll cover obvs 😜 - what’s more important is to question why this is being posted!

And what to ask yourself when you see something like this…

If this is in your neck of the woods, then do yourself a favour and go.

I'll admit to a little bias as the book is one of my absolute faves, but honestly, you don't need to have read it to enjoy the insights and entertainment of this show. Well worth your time!
Heading out on the road again soon with the absolute ship show. I know! Wallop. Come along and I'll tell you all about the shipping forecast with jokes, and that.

Had some company for this morning's #WednesdayMorningWander.

Son was between taxi jobs and joined me for a nice 3.5 mile amble along Maxey Cut. Not the most dramatic scenery, but avoided the early ice and frost, and the sun on the water looked quite beautiful.

Very sad to read this. Volunteering is such an important - and fun - part of parkrun. I always get a little annoyed looking at parkrun results and seeing people with 100's of run credits, but little or no volunteering. Parkrun is also about giving back - not just taking.... 😢

Took my car to be washed and cleaned.

I know I don't often drive, and it's still wet and muddy but it was getting to the point that I couldn't see out, and the spiders on the cobwebs on the wing mirrors were starting to get obstreperous about me opening the doors...

Can we make this a national ad please?

Please??

“Journeys are safer & smoother when we all work together”

Lovely common sense road rules ad from Wokingham Borough Council.

As #brooks no longer seem to want my custom after 13 years, my local running shop has recommended these for my achilles issues. 10mm drop, no rocker sole, neutral but some cushioning. So hard to find a cushioned higher drop shoe and no rocker sole - trainer fashion has a lot to answer for!!

Very sad to read this. A charity which did very good work. Sadly, the release of the recent lukewarm government Road Safety strategy suggests there will be no immediate reduction in the need for the unique support offered by RoadPeace.
😢
Sad news from RoadPeace today.

The ice has *finally* gone and I was able to cycle from our village into town this morning - hurrah!!

Given my history of ice-related A&E visits, driving was the sensible option over the last few days, but it's SO good to be back on two wheels!

RIP the Hare and Hounds at Greatford.

Just turned up for their delicious Sunday lunch, only to find it packed as locals popped in before they close for good today. Absolutely gutted. Although we live in a neighbouring village, we've always felt like locals. So sad to see it go... 😢💔

Finally took the plunge and splashed out for the Hypershell exoskeleton for D, hoping it would be a useful walking aid for his MS-affected leg.

First test today and I think the sight of him striding off ahead of me was mission accomplished!

Coming to a #parkrun near here soon...! 😁

Missed out on our #parkrun adventures due to multiple cancellations across Nottingham 😢.

On the upside, have found my spot for the day. Working through the menu....!! 😁

New hairdresser today - which is something that I realise is only a big deal for about 50% of the population.

Very pleased. Not only is my hair nicely pink again, but they have massage chairs while you're having your hair washed!

Haven't been on my road bike or e-bike for a week, thanks to icy roads. I'm not confident on ice, and already have a history of hospital visits from falling over on ice. Safety first makes good sense, but I'm really missing my bike miles... 😢

Off work for a few days, so swapped my usual #WednesdayMorningWander for a longer run up at #rutlandwater.

Nice to have ice-free paths again, but goodness that wind was lively 😬. A proper resistance workout slogging across the dam today. Was definitely glad of a warm hat!

Had the nicest day 😊.

Early gym sesh, followed by lunch and a riverside walk with a lovely friend. Finished up with a real treat to myself of a massage and facial. Now sat by the woodburner with my snuggly slippers on, feeling pretty good.

A bit of self-care goes a long way!
