I knew about Castle Irwell as one of my dad's first jobs was photographing the 'great and good' attending the races there. Never knew about the earlier course in the dock area though - really interesting to read about it!

It makes it sound a bit more impressive than it actually was - still over 30 minutes for 5k - but it's nice to feel things are going the right way at long last!

I'm always surprised there's no footbridge/s. You do have to step pretty sharpish to get across before the alarm goes again - and I'm reasonably fit and able! I'd not want to be risking it if I wasn't.
