Please read our paper out now about the resistance, repurposing and reimagining of oppressive mental health technologies, such as Oxevision (now LIO), used on us against our will. And how we must dream them differently.
Our paper - ‘Towards a Mad Technoscience: revealing, repurposing, and reimagining carceral mental health technologies’ is out now (limited access here) bristoluniversitypressdigital.com/view/journal...

I think we absolutely should speak about feeling suicidal much nore openly than we do but don't have that vulnerable conversation with a machine Sam Altmam built to make money. You're worth so much more.

On Nov 3rd, myself, Joy Dove and other activist declared the DWP HQ building in London a crime scene. I also dressed up as the devil to ‘congratulate’ the workers coming in and out for their cruel and evil work. Just simply protesting that life is not a cost to cut.

Got a letter that looked like NHS but is actually an “NHS partnered” company called Our Future Health which would appear to be harvesting medical data to train an AI model.

It’s offering to buy your medical data for a £10 voucher.

Real dystopian shit

It can't be underestimated how important this is.

Like 'SIM', this scandal has been uncovered by survivors themselves, not professionals.

Anyone concerned about patient safety, the merging of the private sector & the state, misuse of technology, research ethics & human rights needs to read this.

“‘Clinical-grade’” is an example of marketing puffery designed to borrow authority from medicine without the strings of accountability or regulation. It sits alongside other buzzy marketing phrases like ‘medical-grade’ or ‘pharmaceutical-grade’ for things like steel, silicone, and supplements…”
‘Clinical-grade AI’: a new buzzy AI word that means absolutely nothing
Chatbot mental health companies are getting into clinical cosplay.

I cannot tell you how many tech journalists at prominent media organizations do not understand this
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

NHS caught using invasive surveillance tech on mental health wards - without patient's consent

Growing numbers of NHS trusts are using Oxevision, which enforces blanket, 24-hour surveillance on mental health patients.
