Not The Void UK is a community of people across the UK and Europe. We meet for fortnightly Sunday meetings to have frank, compassionate, non clinical and confidential conversations about our relationship to suicide.

Not the Void UK spent 45 hours in 2025 talking about all the unique and common experiences of suicide we share. We held over 30+ meetings. 6 facilitators from 4 different countries gave their time to hold space. Over a 100 people reached out to join us for a meeting this year #suicide

We are meeting on Christmas Day at 11:30am for a 'no enforced jollity' coffee hangout and then we have our last Sunday peer support meeting at 3pm on the 28th December with Inge and Amanda holding space.
It's our members zoom social tonight. We've been talking about what helps us to go on living over Xmas and New Year, so tonight we might make a collective list of strategies. We'll start with the words that we'd use to describe our pain and overwhelm.

Yesterday was Not the Voids penultimate meeting of 2025, we meet again at 3pm on Sunday the 28th December. We'll have survived a whole year. The candle was lit for everyone we lost to suicide and everything we've lost to deep dark places that feel unlivable.

As I'm setting up my laptop for todays meeting, I spot this parody 'MHBWT' box made my a dear mad friend who is fighting the system to make changes. It sits on a shelf and reminds me of everyone who has been dismissed or fobbed off when they reached out in a suicidal crisis. /1

Thank you to everybody who recommends Not the Void UK to people in their life, it's really nice to open our inbox and see that people have found us. I love that as a group, we can offer mutual peer support, solidarity and celebrate all the ways we are staying alive.

It needs repeating given the state of transphobia in the UK but Not the Void UL supports everyone in their gender expression, we support liberation for transgender, non binary, genderqueer and genderfluid people. We acknowledge the ways oppression of gender makes life unlivable for many people. /1

Our next meeting is at 3pm GMT this Sunday 16th November, with Heather and Inge. We'll spend 90 minutes together, holding space for sharing experiences, pondering questions, expressing our feelings, sitting in comfortable silences.

Talking about our suicidal feelings, thoughts, experiences, and attempts can bring up a lot of emotion. As a group, we want to support each other in a trauma informed way, so that people don't leave meetings re traumatised.

Thank you to the Not the Voiders who were willing to try out Co Resting (they did mute my awful taste in ambient music 🤣) on a zoom social meeting call. We radically rested for 20 minutes, which is a big deal for our first time trying it together.

It's our first meeting back this Autumn and as always, I've lit the candle in remembrance of everybody we've lost to suicide and every bit of our lives that we've lost to feeling suicidal and being isolated by shame, stigma and oppression.
