Driven by curiosity, comforted by hugs. Doing my best to unf0¢k stuff with other spicy baddies. One day I’ll publish essays, but for now I wrangle a preschooler and cry may way through a 9 to 5.

This NPR podcast features 2 teachers: an anonymous woman who now shuts down controversial class discussion because she's scared she'll be fired, and Sarah Inama, who told the school to get fucked when they tries removing her "everyone is welcome here" sign

Guess which one's from Idaho?

The Clear and Present Danger to the American Rule of Law
Trump’s attacks on the courts and Big Law are an existential threat to the legal system. Expect a reckoning.

I was a damn teenager when the Patriot Act passed, and *even I* saw this coming. Once you build a terrorism exception to civil rights, anyone you want to deny civil rights to is a terrorist.
The day is coming and I mean very soon where any speech deemed “a threat to national security” by any citizen will be subject to censure and prosecution. That anti terrorism loophole is going to be everyone’s downfall. Everyone.
I was told these people were “free speech absolutists”

Speaking of which, Bona Fide Masks is currently offering 25% off with coupon code SPRING25. They have Powecom KN95s, among other things.

I have masks at the moment, but this still seems like a good moment to stock up for later on, whether for myself or to share if others need them.

Trump admin officials have told some U.S. gov employees that Elon Musk's DOGE team of "technologists" is using artificial intelligence to surveil at least one fed agency’s communications for hostility to President Trump and his agenda, said two people with knowledge of the matter.

Businesses were already bracing for a crash. Then came another 50% tariff on Chinese goods.

I often think about the problem of Hero Worship in the U.S. culture and how it contributes to where we are now.

No human is infallible. And no representative should go unchallenged. That goes for presidential candidates, etc. We should critique and see how they respond and who they adjust for.
it's literally unthinkable to the khive in my mentions that i could have voted for her and still be criticizing her. you not only have to vote for a candidate, you are also banned from ever saying anything against them even after they lose. very normal and healthy mindset

People who think that only low IQ voters voted for this need to know that’s not true.

My dad has a genius IQ, but Fox News was on all the time in our house. He is also an Evangelical Christian and got hit hard with propaganda via Facebook and YouTube. The Algo + legitimizing Fox can do this to ppl

people always forget but ICE is barely more than 20 years old, it was created in 2003 as part of DHS after 9/11

obviously most of its functions existed in other agencies beforehand but putting it all together has been an unmitigated disaster
Fairly undeniable at this point that abolish ICE was always the only reasonable position

The United States is currently a country where you can be kidnapped by secret police and shipped off to a slave labour concentration camp without ever being charged with a crime or getting a chance to argue your case in front of a judge.

If you think it can't happen to you, why do you think that?
It sure looks like they’re going all in on the “the executive branch can ignore court orders if it thinks the court lacks jurisdiction” thing

Michelle Obama's podcast launch has sparked familiar longing: What if she returned to politics?

This yearning isn’t new but it reflects something important: Democrats still lack a clear leader or direction, and keep looking to the past for guidance.

Got stood up for two (video call) meetings this morning. I wouldn’t mind so much except that I’ve been wearing mascara since 7:30 AM and now I can’t just cry freely without having to fix it 🫠

Now to prepare for the next meeting like everything isn’t fucked lol 🙃

I need the opposite. I'm trying to boycott Amazon.

Somebody build a tool that'll find a different place to purchase the items on Amazon please!

(maybe it already exists?)
Amazon is testing a "Buy for Me” button that will let you purchase products from third-party websites directly from its app using an AI agent.

This is the hottest feature in consumer AI right now and I'm curious to see how apps will avoid hallucinating AIs buy the wrong thing for users.
Amazon can now buy products from other websites for you
AI-powered shopping.
