They tried to burn a US governor and his family and the president of the United States has said nothing.

Kids aren’t supposed to die
Doctors relentlessly worked to numb people to kids dying of viruses.

Why do we expect people to care about 2 kids dying of measles?

First, Steves finds a way to talk about institutions and oligarchy that is dirt simple:

1. Institutions are PUBLIC WEALTH. They are our shared wealth, dammit.
2. Billionaires can't stand wealth they don't control.
3. So they are going to dismantle our public wealth to better bleed us dry

Sometimes in this fast-moving and complex modern world, it’s hard to know what’s right and what’s wrong. But here’s a handy rule of thumb: If you are ever on one side of an issue, and Sesame Street is on the other, YOU’RE the bad guy.

I would say creator-writer-executive producer is a combo that is probably more often the case than not? It’s true that sometimes they direct and sometimes they don’t.

It’s also true that this is a Vision Of A Dude show. But so are a lot of others. This is, like, 2012 discourse, approximately.
How you know this insipid piece wasn’t written by a critic: You would never work again if you submitted a lede like this. A creator who directs *and* executive produces?!?! Unprecedented!

u.s. rural and small town policing is, I suspect, generally way more corrupt and brutal than urban policing but also reported on much less
A sheriff in Mississippi, the highest paid and most powerful public figure in his county, staffed his mother’s commercial chicken farm with inmates from the local jail and used taxpayer-purchased equipment to improve it, an investigation by The New York Times and Mississippi Today found.

The whole point is not just the state disappearing whoever they want, it's you being in the habit of accepting the state choosing whom to disappear, without question. It's submission to the state. Same as with Gitmo after 9/11. The state's judgment must not be questioned.
This should INFURIATE you

'Alarm’ was originally a call to arms.

The Italian phrase ‘all’arme!’ means literally “to arms” or “to your weapons.”

We'd still probably hit 'snooze.'

No better evidence that modern conservatism is 100% grievance-based than their opposition to congestion pricing. Do they… want every resident of New York to drive everywhere? That would destroy their own quality of life!
Duffy on the New York City subway: "It's dangerous. It's dirty ... they don't want you to drive your car. They want you to take a train. If you want me to take a train, make the train safe, make it clean. But if you won't do that, we're gonna pull money."

Given all the lies and the fact that many Americans didn't take international economics 101, I encourage others to do this as well.
