I'm so goddamn tired of living an entire life where I just get told to eat shit, forever
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

It's the fiftieth anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking, memorialized in Gordon Lightfoot's song. Here's the haunting bluegrass version by the Punch Brothers.

I have a ton of thoughts on this but the big one is that QA is one of the few paths into the industry available to working class people.
I know so many incredibly talented developers who grew up without money and got their foot in the door via QA.

the only vision of the future that's been clearly articulated rt now is apocalyptic.
what we need are myriad better futures to strive for.
one thing i love about studying archaeology is that there are so many different pasts to inspire those futures and give them fertile ground in which to grow

The list of things centrists think Dems should run on is so striking. There's some good stuff in here (expand Medicare to vision & dental), but it's mostly technical tweaks and preservation of the status quo.
Like yes, ban congressional stock trading but it's not exactly a compelling vision.

It’s weird to assume that certain people *need* exposure to people who disagree with them, as if I could go a day in my life w/o encountering that shit and that my actual survival doesn’t depend on knowing what assholes think.

Once again, WHERE is this mythic bubble? Is it in the decades I spent around religious fundamentalists who raised me? Is it on the TV, which shows me fascists articulating their vision every time I turn it on? Is it around my boss, who's salivating to replace me at the closest opportunity?
Again speaking only for myself, I think what's most toxic about this kind of platform is its tendency to reinforce all your priors by ensuring the only way you encounter differing viewpoints is when someone you already agree with reposts the most egregious example so that everyone can pile onto it.
