one of the complex legacies of Pope Francis is that he publicly said a lot of very ugly things about ‘gender ideology’, but had personal friendships with a lot of Catholic trans women who felt really supported by him. Leo welcoming them publicly feels like a promising sign. I am EYEING HIM CLOSELY
NEW: Pope Leo XIV will share a meal this Sunday with Alessia Nobile and four fellow transgender Catholic activists, during the Vatican’s Jubilee of the Poor — marking the most significant public encounter shared between a pope and the trans community.

This is an extraordinarily powerful listen - I’ve just had tears running down my face in Tesco. An amazing piece of work @drkevinfong.bsky.social and a wonderful testimony to all involved in emergency medicine.
There’s a lot written about leadership & teamwork but the HEMS crews are one of the best examples, anywhere, of how to operate at the sharp end of practice.
Made this for BBC Radio 4 about the people who make it happen. 11am GMT today or find it here:

The BBC withdrew from the Stonewall workplace scheme in 2021. Absolute lies
The language is word-for-word from gender-critical campaigning…

“Captured by Stonewall.”
“Trans agenda.”
“Biological sex, not gender identity.”

This isn’t media ethics, it’s an op-ed straight from the ‘Sex Matters’ / Transgender Trend’ playbook! 😖

Could I employ someone to follow me around reminding me of this on an hourly basis do you think?
One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

Shapiro, rebuffing Vance about SNAP: "(JD Vance) claims to be a person of faith. I know my Bible, and my Bible teaches us that we are to love thy neighbor and we are to feed the hungry. Deuteronomy says, If you see a person who is in need, you don't give them a clenched fist. You open up your hand."
Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.
