Archivist with a love for #histmed, surgical, sexual health, and #histsex collections; if it's in a jar I'll probably love it. She/her. Aprendiendo español.
New wrong spelling of my name just dropped - Gynny. Amazing it’s taken so long to get to this variation

I understand the pressures on the BBC, but Radio 4's coverage of the Minneapolis shooting is an example of "bad balance".

It's all "the Trump regime says she was a terrorist, but Democrats say it was murder".

The BBC has the footage. It doesn't have to treat truth and falsehood as equally valid.

Oh please no. I don't want to start 2026 with the ripperologists

Pray for me!
BBC running Ripper-adjacent Victorian murder mystery doc followed by a Titanic sinking reconstruction in one evening?

Thoughts and prayers for my colleagues manning the enquiry services out there, it'll be a week.

The xmas cake has been iced! In December 1901 Guglielmo Marconi transmitted the first transatlantic radio signal from Poldhu Beach in Cornwall to Signal Hill in Newfoundland Canada - depicted here in cake and fondant 📡🎄🎅🏼

Second week of my first archive job, a piece of mercury- preserved intestine fell out of a book and into my lap. I knew I'd found my dream profession 🫀🦴📑

In Europe less than 5% of collections have been digitised. There are millions and millions of pages to identify before you even consider the prohibitive costs and pre-digitisation conservation work
When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
Seems like it's worth posting this one again.

Astonished at the number of creative intelligent discerning people who casually use “I asked Chat GPT” when talking about their daily lives.

AI is bad, the work of bad people, who hate you, normalised with bad intent.

You wouldn’t say “I wrote to the Daily Mail”

I wish people had more shame.

The visitor who said he was going to report us for not having the flag (on top of our building) flying at half mast for the queen's death, and took me outside to show me, only to realise he hadn't been standing far enough back to actually see the flag - which was flying at half mast
The request to borrow a fork; the request to get their post redirected (post was not from the library); the request to use a toaster; the guy warning about the end of the world (that was a cathedral library) - so many

My school had this software on the computers and it made it impossible for the art and photography students to complete coursework because it couldn't distinguish between porn and, say, the work of Durer and Botticelli
exactly, we should go back to the good old days when if you wanted to see nudity you had to take a a holiday to Florence
UK to push for nudity-blocking software on devices to protect children

In March 1468/9 the five bells of St Nicholas Shambles Church were hallowed and named - Thomas, Margaret, Trinity, Marie and Nicholas 🔔🔔

Some of the parish's archives were acquired by Barts after the transfer of the endowments of the parish to the Hospital in 1547.

Looking at the papers and broadcast media today having read the press summary of the Sandie Peggie judgment is wild.

They either haven’t read it or are lying about it.

And then people wring their hands about trust in institutions or bemoan people resorting to social media for news.

I always love these photos 👽🚀🎄
When we think of classic nativity scenes, we think of the traditional festive moon base on Ward 10 at the German Hospital over you’re standard nativity display 🎄🚀

Its quite striking to me the similarity with the no more jury judgements thing Labour wants to do how they say “criminals shouldn’t get juries“ when the reality is that its “people wouldn’t get juries“
Fixed it for you. Idiots! If the exclusion is based on appearance then it will certainly impact cis folks as well as trans folks.
