Hej 🦋

Here’s my introduction post:

I’m Natalja 🧛🏻‍♀️ PhD candidate in public law, aspiring horror writer, multilingual translator, senior lecturer, art nerd & insufferable folklorist.

I post about the darker corners of folklore, swamps, woods, and whatever’s growing in between.

Nice to meet you 🍷
Should I be worried if I found a review of my PhD thesis today somewhere, where it shouldn’t have been in the first place?

The colleague who wrote it never uses that computer, moreover, she doesn’t even teach classes at that institute.

I’ve changed a lot of things in my thesis since then, but wtf?

Devendra P. Varma, in The Vampire in Legend, Lore, and Literature, records a chilling 18th c. case from Sikkim:

Princess Pedi Wangmo bled her half-brother, Chador Namgyal, to death, then drank his blood.

Some believed she returned as a vampire after execution 🩸

Stephen is referencing one of my life's greatest achievements, when I was walking New-York-fast in New Orleans (read: PRETERNATURALLY FAST), dressed in Gothic Victorian regalia. Teenager elbows friends as I strode past & murmurs "Oh my God. That... was a LEGIT. Vampire."

The only war I want to post about:

In the Bashkir epic Ural-Batyr, the hero battles the evils of the world – so many that their fallen bodies become the land beneath our feet.

The tale reminds us that nature is sacred, and it's our duty to protect it and all living creatures.

The spooky season is here, and I’ve been summoned by brilliant @bunikanovel.com 🦇

How’s everyone doing?

It’s not easy coming back to social media after such a long break, but I’m trying!
Still drained from the endless PhD grind, but now I refuse to let it consume my life.
So… bear with me, please!
