For DECADES now we have inflated the egos of techbros into the sky & beyond.

We elevated them as geniuses & visionaries. It's our job now to deflate those egos & bring these jerks to heel. Knowing how to code or get VC funding does not mean you know anything IMPORTANT about how the world works
This one and NOAA really hit home.

There is no possible way Musk’s cadre of young’uns has the first clue about how complex either the aviation system or the climate system are. This is like handing a six year old the keys and saying, “You drive for a while, I’m going to take a nap in the back."
I suspect syndication is the key missing bit. Pretty sure a significant part of the revenue is in the republishing of news stories rather than direct from consumers.

So a website or even a print paper doesn't solve that piece of the puzzle.
whoever figures out a way to bundle independent journalism subscriptions will be a hero
i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.

American officials have told Reuters that President Trump is now leaning towards military action against Iran.

Could be more to push for talks, we will see. US forces still are flowing into theater.

This is what Luxon means when he says back on track. Our kids not being able to to buy and Property Investors still going on about how hard done by they are. They offer tenants nothing: NOT security, NOT affordable rents, often NOT a decent place to live in, NOT a warm dry home. NOT a home. #nzpol
📢 Residential property investors increased their mortgage pile by over $7 bln in 2025 and are taking up mortgage money at a proportionately faster rate than owner-occupiers

I was trying to remember when I last left my neighbourhood and I uhhhh it's been almost 2 weeks.

Not sure if I'm living my best life or suffering from agoraphobia.

Mostly, I just don't have anywhere to go because I work from home.

Just to be clear, that's why I am not a Democrat and will not vote for them.
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

Sigh, again I seem to have been followed and celebrated by a bunch of US political weirdos.

So . . . Biden was wrong to run, Kamala didn't deserve to win, the Democrats are just as at fault for Trump, and the US is an empire that should collapse.

Now go away and leave me be.

Here's the thing ... I feel like there could be some really big advantages to us becoming a state of Aussie.

However, and here's the thing ... it would be a fundamental breach of Te Tiriti and the partnership between the Crown and Māori that is held as the cornerstone of us as a nation.
OPINION: In this new era where the rules-based order has ruptured, we need to be bigger to survive. Joining Australia will protect New Zealand, enhance Australia and benefit us all.
Time for New Zealand to become the seventh state of Australia

This has been so incredibly clear and out in the open for so long.

How is it that people still don't get it?
Peter Thiel has been open about this for a long time. Trump is a way to break the republic, which can then be replaced by “free economic zones” with oligarchs as dictators and tech as a taskmaster for helpless humans without any rights. (1/2)
Definitely seems like they destroyed the country on purpose.

My drying shelves are just about full.

Going to trim the ones from this weekend (in the evening, when it cools down) and throw a few more just in case lids . . . but I think it's just about time to organise a firing 🔥

I have teapots, honey jars, vases, a few bowls . . . and some mugs as always.

i can only assume this article is just the word "money" written over and over and over and over
From 2019: Jeffrey Epstein liked to describe himself as a “science philanthropist,” and academics liked to take his money.

As more of Epstein’s enablers are uncovered, it’s worth asking why it was so easy for him to infiltrate science in the first place.

Read more from @lopatto.bsky.social:
Jeffrey Epstein infiltrated science because it was ready to accommodate him

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

Aucklanders, I think if we all work together we can build a dome of some kind and install a very large heat pump to reduce our humidity.

We've gotta do something before we all melt like sugar flowers on a cake at a summer wedding.

I got a new library card today, the librarian reminded me that I can download Hoopla (to watch free movies & listen to audiobooks) and Cloud Library (so I can check out & read books on my tablet) and honestly, I never knew that. Libraries are magical places that we need to support vigorously.

I should have been sent to DC to be a congressional intern or to work in one of the agencies.

And I should have been mentored into a polisci PhD program.

Instead, I was encouraged to be a librarian. Which is great & I’ve done well.

But 22 year old me deserved better from her male profs.
Men, it's worth pondering that these academic men are the same ones that teach young women straight out of school. These are the men given academic authority over young women's careers.

It's really challenging for young women to negotiate the minefield of creepiness these men create for them.
