I am NOT scared of butterflies. I just don't like being touched b̶y̶ i̶n̶s̶e̶c̶t̶s̶.
I am in favor of the national anthem before sports games, a thesis:

Feel like rambling.

Sports perfectly represent to me what patriotism should be. I'm a fan of this team because this is where I was raised is perfectly ok. I'm a fan of this team because of whatever reason is perfectly ok to me.

One thing no one prepares you for if you're taking on a leadership role is how many times you have to answer the same question from the same person, over and over again

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Would a single Senate Republican convict? Like, if there were video evidence: how confident are you that at least 20 would turn against their dear leader?

I want to very gently say something, and I hope nobody will be mad: If somebody on the internet says something that is NOT about politics and NOT about how terrible everything is, it’s a kindness not to reflexively make a comment (in jest or not) that brings it back to those things.

It’s funny that Harvard has been a consistent target for reactionary campaigns, and not one has been dedicated to ousting Larry Summers, an openly political figure who was friends with Jeffrey Epstein; meanwhile, it’s a fine-toothed comb for *checks notes* Black women.

Why can't you just enjoy cool shit without the camera? Live in the moment people!

Josh Shapiro: Binyamin Applebaum, you gotta put me on. Binyamin Applebaum, I said you gotta put me on. Binyamin, Binyamin, Binyamin...
You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

There really is something comforting in the knowledge that the world's most fragile ego can't be reinforced by billions of dollars and dozens of children that you don't know.

"The fuck you gonna do about it? Whine? You gonna vote Republican? You're going do the work to build a new party? Oh nooo, you'll make me choose my leadership replacement and get a multi-million dollar no-show job with lobbyists?"

I think a week ago, I'd call it cowardice. I think if Dems hadn't won handily last week, I'd call it spineless.

But this now was audacious. The kind of audacity I want to see more from the left party if it could ever be used for the people and not the donors.

They think you’re stupid.
Many feel betrayal and frustration, and the feelings are hot right now.

I get it. I have my own feelings.

IF Republicans betray.

ntm, the only promise is to hold a vote
1. We need to fight hard for a good ACA extension early in December and hold Republicans fiercely accountable if they betray everyone.

Guys, we're not going to fix things from the outside. We need to work WITHIN power to get anything done, even if it's too little and even if it's net negative, our focus, goal, and North Star MUST be harm reduction. Any disagreement is accelerationist and therefore unworthy of serious discourse.
i can’t quite explain it but “standing up as opposition doesn’t work” doesn’t seem like good optics for an opposition party to have
SENATOR ANGUS KING: "Standing up to Donald Trump didn't work. It actually gave him more power."

Do you want their only opposition to come from and therefore their only movement to be to the right?
This here's the list of dem senators up in 2026

John Hickenlooper (CO)
Ben Ray Lujan (NM)
Edward Markey (MA)

Sometimes I'm afraid that my lack of personal ambition/competitiveness isn't the virtue I think it is but rather a complex driven by a mix of narcissistic desire for martyrdom, fear of failure, rebuke of middle childness, and a sprinkle of Christian guilt/over-internalizing "last shall be first."

I hate that I feel the need to preempt "[bad guy] did good thing" with "They are still bad and I do not support them in their entirety and their overall influence is net negative and I hate them too but..."

Reminds me of the "Cornel West supports Ron DeSantis" discourse.

I think a lot of the anger this morning stems from a feeling that we did our part, but they did not do theirs. This is an oversimplification, but my dudes, no wonder people are like, “OK, let’s try the democratic socialist, then.”
