Cheating at sports being a terrible metaphor for the machinations of capitalist imperialism aside. The question is are you a part of the team or not? An easy answer would be to say that you're on no team with the worst of Americans...

But then, what if your team cheats consistently and you feel powerless to stop them. Should you stop being a fan? With sports, obviously. And I think that's why so much of the left eschews patriotism. And I get that. But I also think it's irresponsible and ill thought out.

On the anthem, I think minute-patriotism(NYC pride) is perfectly fine. And I think that minute-patriotism being winked at in a way is a good thing before the intensity of competition you get with professional sports.

Can it be taken too far? Sure. But as a Carolina Panthers fan, I want the Panthers to be undefeated. But I don't want them to fully dominate teams to the point the games are boring. And I don't want them to win by cheating.
