HHS plans to cut the national suicide hotline’s program for LGBTQ youth

As a historian of pandemics, I have to echo how completely misguided this decision is. Surveillance is the ONLY way we keep track of a number of pathogens. It is non-invasive and non-disruptive. And it's cheap, esp. in comparison to all the fallout that would have to be dealt w/ without detection.
This is extremely frustrating. Over the past few years, we built a fast and accurate real-time virus monitoring system in a non-invasive way (analyze wastewater), and just like that, it's gone. These types of things can't easily be spun back up in the future. End of an era, I guess 🤷♂️

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.
