Human beings personify and grow emotionally attached to pets, drawings, even inanimate objects that don’t look like living things. They attribute thoughtful personalities to trees; find little robots cute and childlike.
Of course many humans won’t clearly distinguish between a chatbot and a person.

This is not a comment on this particularly, but I've said on different platforms there are relatively significant portions of humanity that aren't psychologically equipped to understand something that so closely mirrors human intelligence. Thinking through ~how and why it responds just doesn't work.

finally watched cyberpunk edgerunners, aka gift of the magi 2077
it was good and sad and annoying. i wish people would sometimes tell stories of this shape where the characters actually do learn from the mistakes of others. the tropes are too inevitable

I spent 72 hours checking the posting times of every Gazan account I saw fundraising. More than 2/3 of them were inconsistent with Gaza but consistent with Myanmar or Cambodia, where hundreds of thousands of people are trafficked into doing scam work under threat of violence or death.

just realized why i so consistently enjoy anime more than most television: most anime is adapted from light novels or manga, so the writing is actually good, whereas most television has great production values and acting and stuff but absolutely shit-tier writing and i can’t stand it
