Cue the Bishops withholding communion from Catholic SCOTUS justices who betray Matthew 25:35-40.
#BREAKING: Over a public dissent from Justice Jackson, #SCOTUS *extends* the temporary pause of the district court’s order that had mandated full SNAP payments for November—keeping that ruling (and those payments) on hold through the end of the day this Thursday:

Thanks to Clintonism, there are a whole lot o’ centrist Democrats who will perform superhuman feats of pseudointellectual contortion to put forward policy proposals that avoid giving off even the slightest whiff of redistribution.

Hey, y’all, they’re fuckin’ neoliberals!

I watched A House of Dynamite tonight. I recommend it highly, even though it will scare you shitless, because (as many have pointed out) it tells of what a competent executive branch does when an ICBM carrying a nuclear payload is headed to a major US city.

The most niche purely theological argument is in William Cavanaugh’s Torture and Eucharist, about times when the state enacts “anti-liturgies” and especially “anti-Eucharists”
So I have a question. Are there any people out there who actually have a strong RELIGIOUS objection to all the stuff ICE is doing now? Not a philosophical one or a moral one, but something akin to the "deeply held religious beliefs" cited to avoid making cakes or websites.

I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

I still don’t know why Trump is so mad about that Ontario tariff ad. It’s not as if Ontario ran an ad depicting the province dumping a load of faeces on an American crowd. Now, that would’ve been truly disgusting.

The amount is meaningless — less than one day of salary. But the principle is important: once the armed services are paid by the oligarchs, they become a private militia, and we no longer have a country.

Trump is exhibiting (of course!) his considerable skills as a m̶a̶s̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶d̶e̶a̶l̶m̶a̶k̶e̶r̶ petulant child.
Trump is pissed about an ad that Canada recently ran in the U.S. showing Ronald Reagan talking about tariffs in 1987.

“Based on their egregious behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED.”

The rhetoric of outrage:

The figure $230 million is a more precise numerical description of what Trump is demanding the DoJ hand over to him. Nevertheless, we can better capture the outrage that this payment represents by emphasizing that this amount is “nearly a quarter of a billion dollars.”
