Only Shea Whigham displayed a character I’d never seen before from him. But, then, I guess that’s why studios go for the people they do.

I did find a nunber of ther performances outstanding, even if it seemed that most of the principals were playing characters I’d seen elsewhere: Macfadyen in Succession, Offerman in any number of things, Shannon in Boardwalk Empire, etc. Even Whitford seemed to be reprising Josh Lyman.

Hmmm…

FWIW, the dialog struck me as anachronistic. I’m not sure if they deliberately wrote it that way. It was all a bit disorienting.

“So much winning.”

And, yes, I’m f***ing tired of what they’re calling “winning.”

If you doubts, maybe it’s time to consider any unconscious bias you may harbor in favor of competence.

Don’t mind Damon too much (although he always plays the same character), but I‘m right there with you on Affleck and have been saying so for years. Thanks for the reassurance that it’s not just me!

As an ex-conservative myself (today I'm very much of the liberal left), I remained astonished at how much many on the left think they know about how conservatives think and the extent to which some will go to enforce the smelly little leftish (often anti-liberal) orthodoxies of the moment.

Mike, what you're calling for--and I'm with you 100%--requires a degree of humility (including, and perhaps especially, epistemic humility) that is in short supply in America today.

Leave it to the NY Times to confirm for people in so-called "flyover country" what they already erroneously believe NYC is really like.

Yep, and Vance knows it, too.

He behaves in a lot of ways that make it clear he’s a bad Catholic, but his brazen intellectual dishonesty is near the top of the list.

“Patriotism” trumps competence every time.

Come to think of it, I kinda like Duffy’s thinking here. I think he should serve as Transportation Sec’y without pay. You know, b/c “Patriotism!”

You know what’s scary? I think the White House, Hegseth, Rubio, Vance, and Gabbard may not even care. In fact, there’s a high probability that they don’t.
