I have already, justifiably IMO, mocked this a few times as a stupid thing for Trump to say, but, in a sense, it may be true. Putin wants Ukraine to be successful, but as a vassal state of Russia. Ukraine, otoh, wants to be successful, but as the sovereign country it is.
