Discord is a member of Netchoice, the trade organization that's fighting these laws in the US, and they've shown up for pretty much every lawsuit since they joined. I can't say for certain[1] but I HIGHLY doubt they are doing this because they want to.

While this absolutely sucks, we are going to see a lot more places implementing universal global age verification over this next year, because the number of states and countries legally requiring it has gotten to the point no one can keep up anymore.

Obviously when there’s no choice there’s no choice and I deal with it, but the Yakuza dubs are in fact mostly fine on the grand scheme of things and in comparison to others out there. 🤷♂️

That one has been especially galling for me. “It’s clearly because the actor is bad.” Dude, Patrick Stewart flubs lines, they don’t LEAVE THOSE IN. As someone with ADHD, games have so much else going on that I’ll often go with dubs on a first go as it’s just… easier to absorb.

"the vast majority of you won't have to worry about this" I don't even fucking care if it turns out it's only three people that have to worry about this, it shouldn't be implemented, period. Keep cancelling your Nitro, they're clearly noticing
Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)

When I look at the post endgame output, I actually do find The Marvels one of the more fun ones that I feel kinder towards overall.

My understanding is it’s like the odd jobs thing in Gaiden that railroads you into the side content except it’s for a sex pest apology tour. Might be slightly off on its exact function but it’s the main thing he’s doing for a chunk of it.
