There we go, fam. If Anime Matsuri DOES happen this year, it looks like there's an extremely high likelihood that it's not gonna come back to the George R. Brown Convention Center that it's been in for years & years. There was no hiding it anymore. Attendance has been hemorrhaging, they gotta move.
Finally, the bombshell everyone's been waiting for - my source at Houston First just informed me they do not have Anime Matsuri currently scheduled for any 2026 dates at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Doesn't mean they're not gonna try to have it anywhere else but verrrrry interesting.

While playing hide and seek when I was like five I wasn't paying attention while running for a hiding spot and ran directly into a tree at such an angle that I somehow broke my thumb
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

The Famicom Disk System is one of the most fascinating formats/console add-ons, as it's one of those that wasn't a failure (4+ million units sold) due to inherent flaws. And the kiosk ecosystem around it is still pretty cool stuff.

Knew Ikoku Nikki was going to be good because the source material rules and the staff's good, but goddamn what an amazing first episode. So far brilliant structure to bypass pacing issues, direction that really understands the core of the series, and waaaay better animation than it'll get credit for

I've only watched two anime in the Winter 2026 season so far, but honestly I can already tell any other ones that I watch this season will have a hard time competing with Journal with Witch/Ikoku Nikki. This is going to be an all-timer series, I can feel it in my bones already from its first episode
