It’s not the tariffs though. They just decimated science in America. And, please understand that I say this with full knowledge of just how bad HHS has been gutted. NIH is now working about as well as mid tier college. They booted some big names and others have quit to go elsewhere 1/

listen. There are many glaringly obvious and valid reasons to criticize America. But if you’re from the UK, I dont wanna hear it.

Putin is in everything evil, including Trump, Vance, Thiel, etc. Standing up and facing this is no longer an option, it’s imperative.
Insane — a French judge says Trump’s goons tried to pressure her over Le Pen’s prosecution and she was so “taken aback” she told the French foreign office

Here’s the deal with the FY26 NIH funding bill:

One line in the 1000+ pg bill = significantly less science.

The increase to ~40% of grants moving to MYF is estimated to result in a 35% decrease in the NUMBER of NIH grants funded annually—moving the paylines from 10% to around 4%.

THIS IS BAD.

Holy fucking Christ on a flaming fucking pogo stick.

This administration didn’t just damage science here in America.

They fucking curb stomped it and then shot it 6 times in the fucking face.
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

Body cams? More training? For ICE? Let me tell you a funny story.

Sometime during the uprisings, I got a call from my Senator’s office (you know which one) to review a criminal justice reform bill drafted by Corny Booker (I spelled it that way disrespectfully). It was named after John Lewis. 1/

Trump is a master at DARVO.

Dayna EM Craig’s poem nails Trump:

A Narcissist’s Prayer

That didn’t happen.
And if it did, it wasn’t that bad.
And if it was, that’s not a big deal.
And if it is, that’s not my fault.
And if it was, I didn’t mean it.
And if I did
You deserved it.
The standard for “cultural revolution” according to centrist and right wing commentators is “liberals being loud about their opinions” whereas Trump is making prosecution, regulatory, and funding decisions based on the politics of the speaker but that’s also libs fault for making him mad

I 100% support this and everyone should call for a nationwide strike. Like we can all not work and just get out there and say Nazis get out!!
The Minneapolis AFL-CIO calling for a general strike is a big deal and we should treat it like a big deal.

Also it's a good idea. LFG

I woke up today w. Floyd Mann on my mind.

There are decent people in every large organization no matter how corrupted. The job of leadership in a time of crisis is to identify & empower them. I know Frey & Walz don’t want to inflame things further but that line was crossed last week.
The measure of a man
Exactly 46 years ago today — May 20, 1961 — U.S. Rep. John Lewis of Georgia met Alabama lawman Floyd Mann in the Montgomery Greyhound bus terminal.

Yes ACAB. But all bastards are not the same. A competent executive would have identified the Floyd Manns, the Frank Serpicos in event that something like this happened. What’s the point of having state power if you’re unwilling to wield it to protect your people?

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

One of the stories that makes me the saddest out of this ICE invasion is one out of the Minnesota Star Tribune today about ICE agents eating at a little Mexican restaurant in the small town of Willmar, Minn, —and then, when they were done, arresting some of the workers.

Ive said this before but I think it bears repeating in this moment:

If we lock ourselves in our homes and stay silent because we are afraid he will declare martial law,
Then we are already living under martial law.
We are Martial Law-ing ourselves.

Do not obey in advance.
Be as brave as you can.
