(1/9) The CG and Hate Symbols: What We Know So Far (a thread).

Yesterday, WaPo reported that the CG has removed swastikas, confederate flags, and nooses from a list of "hate symbols". This is both technically correct, and an oversimplification.

🚨🚨 Washington Residents, take note.
The rest of us, brace.🚨🚨

This is one of the biggest fears I had with impending cuts/losing access. Providers don’t have to accept Medicaid/medicare. The payments are abysmal at best.

Insurance doesn’t matter if no one accepts it.

This is devastating.

Isn’t the whole…confederate flag thing seditious treason? Asking for MAGA supporters confused about who trump wants them to kill…
Exclusive: The U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika, nooses and the Confederate flag as hate symbols.

The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”

Leavitt: Why aren't you talking about what these members of congress are doing to encourage violence…. They're literally saying to 1.3 million active duty service members not to follow lawful orders

Reporter: Actually they said illegal orders.

There are currently over 26 THOUSAND Louisianians on a waitlist for HCBS waivers. 14.5 thousand of whom are children with intellectual needs. If we look at the top 10 states with the highest waitlist for these services, take a guess what party they supported.

Vaccines don’t cause Autism.
Tylenol doesn’t cause Autism.

RFKj, however, will cause people to die.

Get vaccinated. Ask questions if you’re unsure of the benefit, but ask your fucking PCP.

Counting down the minutes til VFC/VFA programs are completely shut down. 💔
🧪
A an angry reminder that

1. There is no causal link between vaccines & autism

2. Autism has a strong genetic component, involving ~500 genes

3. Tylenol is not linked to autism

4. RFQuack failed to get a journal to retract a large Danish study that showed no link btwn aluminum & autism

“First, make the case for the state funding to replace any shortfalls. Then cut payments to providers. Then selectively reduce benefits if you can. Then cut people from the program. With large cuts in federal spending, the latter will be unavoidable.”

Now if you’ve made it with me this far, sweet cheeks, then good on you for caring! 🤟🏻

If you haven’t caught on, private policies make payers a fuck ton more net profit.

So encouraging anyone to leave marketplace, or ending ACA expansion, or the premium subsidies is literally saying go make those

One “act of god” is all it takes. In the blink of an eye you could go from healthy to needing 24 hour care.

A BLINK OF AN EYE. I’ve seen it.

It’s an undeniable fact

So while MCD/ACA are predictable, they aren’t profitable.

Coverage/payment amounts are heavily regulated and while MCOs can wiggle a little here, they can’t wiggle into sustainable profit.

LTSS services are a huge chunk of payer costs as MCOs. Medicare, Medigap, and commercial policies don’t cover

Almost every major player in the insurance game also act as an MCO for Medicaid and a marketplace payer.

Why’s that matter? Because Medicaid/ACA are CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.

While Medicaid/ACA margins for payers are steady and reliable, without financial risk, the net profit is slim to none.

People often think I’m being overreactive. Dramatic. Alarmist.

I get the importance of SNAP. But I don’t think some of you understand how bad the healthcare crisis is.

Funneling even more profit to major payers should be a crime against humanity.

“For profit healthcare” should NEVER exist.
