I seemingly remember, about 10 years ago, people being shocked that HP Lovecraft was a racist. I've now actually read some of his stuff, and, honestly I don't know how this was a surprise. My vocab of what you could call people who aren't anglo saxon has probably increased 10 fold in the past hour.
