Main character energy is OUT, this summer we’re bringing NPC energy. We’re posted up at the bar dropping lore and suggesting side quests. We’re leaning casually near a locked door and saying “I don’t think you have the key for that” when someone tries the handle. We’re staring at a tree.

Harper Collins didn't sign on to protect libraries. The other big four publishers (including my publisher, Penguin Random House) did. They are also part of the Murdoch empire.

Imagine being a publishing house and NOT supporting library funding.

AI disruption: "programmers and writers: occupations where the job from start to finish is as close as possible to what AI excels at: nice, clean, linear and sequential tasks, exam-style questions and essay assignments. both jobs also have high rates of contracting or freelancing."

The one good thing to come outta the AI Ghibli meme bullshit is the sheer number of people seeing that, pausing, and just going ew I think the fuck not.

Good news out of Colorado! A Federal judge orders Colorado district to return banned books to school libraries. Good work! www.denverpost.com/2025/03/19/e...
Federal judge orders Colorado district to return banned books to school libraries
The order prohibits the school board from removing books “because the district disagrees with the views expressed therein or merely to further their preferred political or religious orthodoxy.”

Quirked brows. I can't give you a number I just know yall will perish.
Your readers must take a shot every time "X" happens in your book. What specific quirk/imagery/trend/etc is it, and how dead are they? #WritingPrompt

Don’t post front facing pictures of yourself maskless at protests. Don’t post front facing pictures of other people maskless at protests. **Especially** ppl of color. Seeing that all over with the Tesla stuff.

You eagerly wanting to be seen doing something endangers both yourself and others.

Characters that keep it all together because they have to only to slowly begin unraveling under the reality that they are not in control, leaving them wholly unhinged and feral little gremlins because they can no longer Keep It All Together.

I am once again reminding people that scrutinizing what writing, erotica or porn women put out into the world, whether its popular or not, is never going to actually prevent abuse against women; The problem always has been abusers being enabled & given power by society & bad legal policies.
Some of the most heavily censored years in media during the 1930s-1950s were some of the most violent domestically. US culture/society was training everyone to be good little moral citizens & they forced media of the time to reflect that agenda while everyday abuse still happened behind closed doors

Frankly if you genuinely would be okay with Nazis reading your books just because you want any and all eyes on you, that tells me all I need to know about you, your work, and your ethics.
Ngl. Seeing people saying that they don’t say certain things because they want people to read their books, or saying certain things so people will buy their books boils my blood.

I am who I am. I say what I believe. Read my books or don’t. Some things are too important.

this is called obeying in advance and it’s BAD, ACTUALLY.

make no mistake: labels like these are not for readers; they’re for adults who want to control content. this is the voluntary facilitation of censorship.
