Thank God we’re not unnecessarily jamming this into schools full of millions of vulnerable, emotionally pliable children. *touches ear* Wait, I’m getting an update —

The mere fact that TurboTax is generating $100 million a year in extra funds to pay ChatGPT shows that it is overcharging its customers.

TurboTax is about to be integrated into ChatGPT, where customers will be guided through tasks tied to their tax filings or financial profile by the AI chatbot.

If we're going to defeat fascists, again, we need to get a lot braver.

Customer Service is nonexistent. Like not even a little.

Everyone is too busy rationalizing their mistakes and not making sure customers are looked after and respected.

As women gain power, the patriarchical powers dig in deep.
November 18, 2025 at 10:20 PM
When a man says a woman is "insubordinate" it does not mean they are. It means the woman is standing up for themselves and/or has a very valid point.

I have been called insubordinate.

The man was eventually let go from their job because of harassment cases against them.

Go. Figure.

Canadian MPs are having a Confidence vote tonight on the new Canadian Budget by Carney.

Either the Liberal Government is saved by a vote or two, or...

The Government falls and we are in a new election that people (mostly) don't want.

It's the HOT TOPIC in Canada tonight!

Absolutely this. It keeps being portrayed as a boycott - and maybe it is for some, but these stories are having a big influence.

The media are the only ones hoping for an election.

I think that the chances of the budget failing are slim to none. Nonetheless, I will be watching the vote on the floor at around 6:45.

I saw a raccoon cling to a blanket with their paws as I pulled them to safety out of a garbage bins.

Animals adapt.
A female wolf has been doing something unusual on the Central Coast of British Columbia. She's learned to pull crab traps up from the water, yanking on a rope to bring it to the surface. But is it tool use? Very fun story from @phiejacobs.bsky.social for @science.org
Have wild wolves learned to use tools?
Video captures a lone female pulling crab traps out of the water, but does it count as tool use?

Today, Paste Magazine shuttered all its non-music verticals, a choice I am both professionally and personally heartbroken about. Sadly, I am once again looking for a place that wants to let me write about Books and TV on the regular, so hit me up if that’s you or anyone you know.

Remember when everyone made fun of Trudeau's "Rappoteur"?

Tranche and rapporteur are normal words for people with a developed vocabulary.
Decades from now, when we look back on the Carney era, I think we'll remember it as a time period when everyone just started saying "tranche" all the time.

Pedantic journalist alert, but why have we all accepted that 'tranche' is a normal word we should all use.

Torch's different "voices":

1) short, sharp: Look at me; Me too (food-wise)

2) Sharp barks: I want to play

3) Deep barks: There is an intruder outside

4) Silence (outside at night): Do not give away our position, dumb ass

What is Creepy As Shit for $1000, Alex.
If you are not in academia, you might not know this, but job interviews used to be held at conferences IN HOTEL ROOMS. Women candidates in a hotel room alone with often all-male committees. People sitting on beds! The horror stories I've heard.
I thing I sometimes thing about is that university departments were still doing job interviews in hotel rooms in the mid aughts

People 100% steal posts and jokes and present them as their own.

AND, a lot of times, multiple people spontaneously have the exact same idea for a post/joke. We all swim in the same waters, so overlap is gonna happen.

It can be hard to parse which is which sometimes.
