As conservatives push for the criminalization of more pregnant women & abortion seekers, a new book shines a light on what it's like to be pregnant behind bars

I spoke w/ author Rebecca Rodriguez Carey for @motherjones.com about the women she says the repro justice movement has largely left behind:
Republicans Want More Pregnant Women in Prisons. A New Book Describes What It’s Like.
As pregnancy criminalization is on the rise, Birth Behind Bars offers a rare look at what it’s like to be pregnant behind bars.

Some in Congress can’t muster maturity when they have a transgender colleague. But members of the U.S. Armed Forces can—and have.

My NDAA amendments repeal Trump’s cruel trans military ban & restore retirement benefits to trans veterans forced out of service.

BREAKING: In Chicago, Illinois—U.S. citizens protesting ICE were dragged into vans by masked federal agents with no badges and no warrants.

People screamed: “Who are you? Where are you taking them?”

This is authoritarian control in real time.

Peter Dinklage and erasing medical debt? I'm in.
So the new Toxic Avenger (with Peter Dinklage as Toxie) releases in theaters on Friday. For every million the movie makes, they will donate a million to erase medical debt. Up to $15M. I encourage everyone who is willing to watch a comedy-horror in theaters to go see it before it hits streaming.

When I read EO Wilson's letters at the LOC, it was clear that he was an ACTIVIST (for "scientific racism"). He was organizing with "race scientists," supporting them, positively reviewing their pubs and books, encouraging them to write Op Eds. Yet only progressives get the "activist" label.
Insisting on expertise over ideology is not “politicizing” science. The ideologues installing scientific and governmental policy that is contradicted by evidence and data are.

By emphasizing ideology over expertise, THEY have made arguing for expertise and evidence-based decision making partisan.
Scientists Are Caught in a Political Trap
Fighting back against the Trump administration means they start to look more like activists.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

If you burn the fabric part, you're looking at jail.

But it you use the pole part to assault a police officer, you get a presidential pardon, praise, and some cash.

Budgets are value documents
Cost of Trump's D.C. Occupation: $1.1M per day.

Cost to operate public housing for D.C.'s entire homeless population: $169,226 per day.

It's not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

Not to mention the fact that a rushed 5 year census wouldn't be accurate in any shape or form. This administration is blatantly stupid and hypocritical.
This is blatantly unconstitutional. The Census is constitutionally mandated to take place every 10 years and count the "whole number of persons in each state"
And now the census
