Today’s decision is disappointing. I am not in this fight only for myself, and I’m concerned that this decision will simply embolden the administration.

This case is not over. I am committed to protecting my community, our people, and our country.

The budget passed—but not with my vote. I won’t support a Republican agenda built on cruelty and corruption—and that’s exactly what this budget was. I’ll keep fighting to protect and expand health care for every Delawarean and every American.

Donald Trump loves to own things and stick his name on them. Well, now he owns the American health care system. Millions losing coverage. Americans paying more for insurance. Everyone having to drive longer and wait more time for care. That is Trumpcare.
November 13, 2025 at 12:40 AM
It's simple: Donald Trump only cares about himself, his ballroom, and his billionaire buddies. And he certainly doesn’t care about you.

The only thing congressional Republicans are more loyal to than Donald Trump is cutting Americans’ health care.

Millions face skyrocketing premiums. The largest Medicaid cut in U.S. history looms. Rural hospitals will close. Doctors’ offices will shutter.

I’m voting no on this budget bill.

1/ Speaker Johnson abused his power by delaying the swearing-in of a duly elected member of Congress. So proud to now call her Congresswoman and colleague—and even prouder that one of her first acts was being the final signer on the discharge petition to force a vote to release the Epstein files.

1/ On Veterans Day, and every day, we honor the service and selflessness of our veterans and servicemembers. Their dedication to protecting our freedoms is a debt we can never fully repay.

1/ I cannot support this budget bill because Delawareans deserve so much better. We can reopen government and tackle the health care crisis all at the same time. The only thing stopping us for months has been Republican cruelty.

One of the greatest privileges of my time in Congress has been serving with—and learning from—Speaker Pelosi. She’s become a friend, a mentor, and a confidante. It’s almost impossible to put into words the impact she’s had on our party and on me personally.

It’s official—this is the longest shutdown in American history. Republicans in Congress need to come to the negotiating table and tackle the real problems Americans are facing—the cost of living, skyrocketing health care premiums, and an administration that’s focused on bathrooms and ballrooms.

If the Republican Party is truly pro-family, they would join Democrats in demanding that the Trump administration use its legal authority to fully fund SNAP benefits for the more than 42 million Americans—and over 100,000 Delawareans—who rely on them.
November 5, 2025 at 1:33 PM
I’ve heard from so many Delawareans throughout this shutdown—whether they’re federal workers, health care providers, or working parents—and the message is clear: people are worried about how rising health care premiums will impact their families and neighbors. Here’s what one Delawarean had to say.
November 4, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Congressional Republicans have presented a false choice: that we can only reopen the government or address the health care crisis. Democrats have said for months that we can—and we must—do both. Every day we wait, Americans pay the price.
November 4, 2025 at 2:05 AM
I’m back in Washington, ready to work with my colleagues to reopen the government, protect health care, & prevent more disruptions to the programs Delawareans depend on.

But after choosing to shut down the government & put SNAP benefits at risk, congressional Republicans are nowhere to be found.
November 4, 2025 at 12:25 AM
It's November 1st, which means millions of Americans are logging onto healthcare.gov to get covered. But this year, they’re being hit with skyrocketing premiums all while SNAP benefits lapse because congressional Republicans refuse to act.

Delaware’s first responders embody selflessness and sacrifice, helping to keep our communities safe each and every day.

On National First Responders Day, we thank them for their public service—and recommit to ensuring they have the resources they need to do their jobs.

Republicans need to do their job—protect SNAP & keep families from going hungry. I joined my Democratic colleagues in urging USDA to use every available dollar & its full legal authority to deliver SNAP benefits in November. Our neighbors shouldn’t have to pay the price for Republicans’ dysfunction.

It was great to visit Futures First Gaming in Wilmington—where esports and digital learning are opening doors for Delaware’s youth. By combining teamwork, technology, and creativity, they’re helping young people build the STEM, digital, and leadership skills needed to succeed.

Seniors & older Delawareans deserve to age with dignity & respect. The Newark Senior Center—Delaware’s first & only National Institute of Senior Centers-accredited center—reflects that every day through care, connection, & community. I’ll keep working to ensure our neighbors have the care they need.

First, Republicans voted to cut SNAP earlier this year. Now their shutdown could take food off Delaware families’ tables. They’re not fighting to lower costs—they’re making it harder for working people to live.
SNAP benefits not expected in November. What Delawareans should know
Unless the federal government intervenes, SNAP benefits will not be distributed next month.

They may not act like it, but even Republicans know we have to take on skyrocketing health care costs.

To prove it, @mcbride.house.gov and I got together to connect Republicans with their own words about this crisis.

It's time for them to put their money where their mouths are.

1/ Nurses are the heart of our health care system, but cuts to Medicaid, skyrocketing premiums, and the government shutdown are making it harder for them to care for our neighbors.
October 23, 2025 at 5:39 PM
1/ Today, I brought together health care leaders from the Delaware Nurses Association to discuss the ongoing health care crisis—and to strategize how we can protect care for our neighbors while supporting nurses and providers.
