Our thoughts are with the staff of the CDC, members of the Emory community and the family and friends of the slain officer, but they deserve more than thoughts and prayers. They deserve real action by leaders to make their community, and every community, a healthy and safe environment for all.

The average cost for having a child is about $13,393 for delivery alone.

Families spend approximately $12,472 annually or $1,039 per month on daycare.

So while elected officials celebrate Mother’s Day, they should also pass universal healthcare and universal childcare ASAP.

You know what I’ve learned teaching in a medical school? The greatest health concern for a pregnant woman in America is MURDER.

It is dangerous for a woman here to get pregnant because she might get killed by the child’s father.

That’s the crisis of masculinity.

Every time I've worked with an HHS employee as part of my grants, I've had two thoughts.
1. Holy shit that person is smart
AND
2. Wow, they were so nice.
Today's Reduction In Force layoffs are cruel to staff whose life mission it was to make the world a safer and healthier place.
