Meanwhile, people unconstitutionally seized or brutalized by ICE agents can’t sue them because there’s no private right of action for them to do that.

There was never a path to getting ACA subsidies through the shutdown. There was a path to killing the filibuster. Sigh.

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.

Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

Yes the Democrats got nothing in the shutdown deal but imagine what random s*** they would have given away had they not had dominant leverage by winning the elections.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Mandami is going to implement Shareef law. There will be no more rocking of the casbah for the next 4 years.
Mamdani is going to implement Shipshewana law. Everyone will only buy their handcrafted Amish furniture from just off the Indiana Toll Road.
Mamdani is going to implement Sriracha law. Everyone will have to slather hot sauce on their scrambled eggs

All we need to do to solve the housing crisis is to deport ::checks notes:: one out of every three people living in this country.

The college football playoffs was a mistake, we should just have the big 10 champion play the SEC champion.

Haven't gotten a work email since 9:30 a.m. (which was caused by *me* filing something) so I literally just sent an email to myself from another account to make sure something wasn't broken.

Can you imagine if a sitting senator said this about Jews? Let's see how many calls there are for him to resign.
Tuberville: “We just saw what happened in NY. We lost NY. It will be completely Muslim in 3-4 years. That’s what they want. And it’s going to spread throughout the country.”

It's worth pointing out that the courts use standing and remedies laws inconsistently and politically to achieve results like this. courts make it hard for Cornell to enforce liberal rights, But super easy for other plaintiffs to enforce conservative ones.

The AP tracked down details of some of the people killed in President Trump's military strikes on drug smugglers he describes as narco-terrorists.

They were, with one exception, not high-level criminals. One was a fisherman. One was a bus driver; another a taxi driver.

Of course if we are going to get past this we are going to need to reshape the Supreme Court, but we are also increasingly going to need to narrow the jurisdiction of the current 13 courts of appeal to a few square blocks in Wyoming and start anew.

Congratulations to FIFA Peaze Prize winner Donald Trump on his war.
Trump says we are preparing to invade Nigeria. Apparently that’s what voters said they wanted in the exit polls. Trump: “We’re going to do things to Nigeria that Nigeria’s not gonna be happy about. Guns-a-blazin!”
