Democrats. Just as bad as the Republicans.
Not just disappointed. Very disappointed.

Nicolás Maduro Charged With Felony Oil Possession
January 5, 2026 at 7:00 PM
Our government invaded another country on the basis that “you cannot have the largest energy reserves [in] the world under the control of adversaries.”

Wut.

We are the bad guys.
One of most remarkable US presentations at UN Security Council I've ever seen.

- No reference to UN Charter legal justification
- Claims Panama as precedent (which the UN condemned)
- Energy reserves ⤵️ as justification is illegal
- Sharp contrast with US Ambassador Pickering presentation in 1989

Too bad we don’t have one, with America’s GOP.
If ever there were a time you might want a separate but equal branch of the United States government to run a check on the president, it would be now ….

Not surprised our first felon president violates international and domestic law by invading a sovereign country for its oil.

I am surprised at the lack of action by Congress who have shirked their duties and handed over their power.

Both parties are feckless.

Vote. Them. All. Out.

So Trump just started WWIII in Venezuela; the UTGOP supermajority in the Leg and SLCo Council enabled ICE to break up families during the holidays.

It’s election filing week in Utah. Time to start our own revolution. You tired of the authoritarian gvmt?

RUN FOR OFFICE.

VOTE THEM OUT.

Record-breaking retirements in Congress. That’s not “frustration,” that’s people seeing the building on fire and heading for the exits.

Expect more retirements in January.

As @michellequist.bsky.social sees it, the Utah Forward Party has a chance to show voters how a third -party member can represent constituents “as opposed to being wedded to party politics.”
The Forward Party of Utah has a new senator. Can they hold on in 2026?
Emily Buss will serve out the remainder of Sen. Daniel Thatcher’s term in the Utah Legislature. Originally a Republican, Thatcher joined the Forward Party in March.

Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

Of course they do. Come on Utah. Replace these two in 2026.
Rep. Pierucci and Rep. Teuscher offer some criticisms of the unions themselves. Union leaders are in the gallery and they don't look thrilled.

Rep. Teuscher says he will continue have conversations with unions about moving the right policy forward.

Maybe the Legislature should stop breaking the law and the AG should start advising properly.
Gov. Cox implies he will be watching the legislature on any bills targeting the judiciary.

The governor says he does support expanding the Utah Supreme Court, and the Utah Court of Appeals. He thinks amount of litigation and ruling timelines are too much. Same for district court (needing resources)

The first official confirmation that Noem herself made the decision not to turn the planes around. A couple hundred men were tortured as a result — and soon after, the Supreme Court confirmed that the Trump admin’s Alien Enemies Act process was a total violation of due process.
BREAKING:

“After receiving that legal advice, Secretary Noem directed that the AEA detainees who had been removed from the United States before the Court’s order could be transferred to the custody of El Salvador. “

We can do better than the GOP.
Difficult to overstate how profound a failure DOGE was. Spending in FY2025 was not only than in FY2024 – but higher than it was projected to be when Trump first took office.*

The little bit of spending DOGE cut has already killed hundreds of thousands and will eventually lead to millions of deaths.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

A Republic, if you can keep it.
Q: What did you mean when you said you're prepared to send 'more than the National Guard' into American cities?

TRUMP: if I want to enact a certain act, I'd be allowed to do whatever I want. The courts wouldn't get involved. Nobody would. I could send Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines -anybody I want

Trump is a menace
Breaking news: The East Wing of the White House is gone.

Wrecking crews completely removed the decades-old annex by midday Thursday, just three days after they started, to make way for a pet project of President Trump: a 90,000-square-foot ballroom.
The East Wing is gone, and Trump turns to damage control
Demolition crews appeared to finish taking down the bulk of the White House wing Thursday, while President Donald Trump defended the project.
