The violent scenes that played out in central Sydney last night were deeply troubling, and entirely foreseeable.
We are Australians, first and foremost. Inviting a foreign head of state to Australia when the consequences for social cohesion are so obvious shows a serious failure of judgment.

Compelling i/view on #RN just now with Abigail Boyd, a NSW Greens politician injured by police at the Sydney protest last night. She'd been released from hospital a few hours earlier and was understandably still distressed at how a peaceful protest was turned violent by police intervention. #auspol
