It’s important to recognize the (ongoing) complicity of STEM folks in this trend of destroying humanities. We were happy to latch onto “employability” because we benefitted but now university admin believe unis are job training institutes, and even basic sciences (mathematical physics!) are at risk.

There's been a great deal of debate about how safe Dublin city centre is, but when we @dublininquirer.com looked for data to resolve this, we couldn't find much useful – so we commissioned a survey to try to add some facts/data to the debate. Today we've published five articles about the results. 1/

I like to get up early and eat breakfast early. The only place in Durham open is Greggs. I order a bacon roll.

Feeling this a lot. In my dept there’s more concern about whether students “deserve” a first class honors. It’s considered worse to have too many people get good grades than it is to have many fail a class. The goal of assessment is either to help students learn or to rank them. It can’t be both.
People spend way time worrying about whether students are getting too many A's and not enough time considering the possibility that people who busted ass so hard that they got into a place like that might be the kind to be high achieving
Too many FACULTY think grading is about breaking people, too
