Proud to be woke because I care about social justice. Paying taxes is a high class problem. Vote because you care about others and recognize that other people can do well and make society better

I broke down and joined here. Looking forward to carrying on the good fight
Latinos voted 28% for Trump in 2016 and 44% in 2024. Given that Latinos make up 19% of the population, that shift reflects a 3% swing in the outcome. A reversion to the mean in 2026 should swing the average district by around 3 points. That means R +2 becomes D +1

Just watched a Fetterman interview. Am not a fan, but he clearly stated his choice was to hold the line and starve 42 million Americans or work to win the next election
Reasonable point of view, although I would have preferred that Democrats didn’t cave

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Is Schumer still the minority leader? Is Durbin still the whip? Is Cortes-Masto still a vice chair? Good Democrats -- rank and file, those committed to restoring party --must tell Act Blue and every candidate with hands out for the coming midterms -- that there's no cash coming without new leaders.

As disappointed as I am about the Democrats’ cave in on the debt ceiling, the pragmatist in me sees a silver lining
The agreement opens government only till January 30, then it’s back to shutdown
That means Dems can find out if Rs are willing to deal in good faith or not. If not, shut it down

As of this morning, it is imperative that the Democratic caucus in the senate remove Schumer as Minority Leader, Durbin as minority whip and Cortez Masto as Vice Chair of Outreach.
Replace them today with Van Hollen, Murphy and Merkley. Or anyone else who actually knows how to lead and discipline.

If I were @schumer.senate.gov, I would not agree to help Republicans fund this regime on the "promise" of an ACA vote at a later date. It didn't work the last time when they promised to fund DC. It won't work this time either. The House won't touch it.

$2000 to each of 340 million Americans totals $680 billion, or enough to fund SNAP for 7 years
It is enough to fund 5 years of ACA subsidies
In the meantime, Congress remains committed to starving poor people and to taking away their healthcare

A 50-year mortgage for the median $435,000 house with 20% down would be around $27,000 a year
That means the house would cost $1.35 million in payments
A 30 year mortgage would be $32,000 a year and the total cost would be $960,000 in payments

FEDWATCH: “.. Considering the MBS trade is around one to one and a quarter percentage points above Treasuries, the 50-year mortgage may be around 6 percent. This is a mere 28 basis points lower than the current 30-year fixed mortgage, raising questions about affordability. (!)” 🤡

I’m a broken record on this, but it has to be repeated: the government is REQUIRED BY LAW to fund SNAP benefits. The Trump administration stopped paying, were ordered by a court to start paying again, defied the court order and is SUING to AVOID FEEDING HUNGRY CITIZENS!

A 30 year mortgage would be paid off when the homeowner turns 70
The 50 year mortgage will still have a significant balance (more than half) when the homeowner hits 70
Just brilliant
