A bunch of writer friends are noting that they have not used LLMs to write. Me either, absolutely not. I feel like we need to stop asking kids what they want to BE when they grow up and start asking them what they want to DO. Because: I am not here to BE A WRITER, I am here to WRITE.

Boggling thing about this is … that’s a house sparrow. The most successfully human-adapted and widespread species on earth perhaps with the exception of the brown rat. Idk but it sure feels like art for a human rendering of a house sparrow to emerge from ashes after 2000 years
This little bird survived a volcanic eruption!
Buried by volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, this Roman fresco of a little bird pecking at fruit re-emerged looking as delightful as it did some 2,000 years ago!

FINALLY seeing the techlash against AI
(I've been fighting this from the jump)
I think the tech industry pissed people off endlessly, shoved AI into everything, and then inadvertently gave people a physical thing they could focus their anger on.

Data center fights are already activating so many young people on the left.
One activist fighting data centers in Texas told me he started getting involved in the opposition because he didn’t have “the clout” to stop “the genocide” in Gaza, but he could maybe stop the data centers… @heatmap.news
