I can see clearly now, the rain is here. Striving to do the deeds.
When I moved to Rome to study, I was struck by the grandeur of the Palazzo Vittorio Emanuele II, the huge monument Mussolini constructed downtown, down the road from the Forum and the Coliseum. The first time I mentioned this to an actual Italian, he scoffed.
Built to President Trump’s specifications, the Independence Arch would transform a small plot of land between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery into a dominant new monument.

If you’re an American, this is being done in your name and with your tax dollars.
Everyone in America should have to see these cases and think about what they mean for the kind of society we are becoming. They killed a mom in her minivan. And now they have grabbed this poor sweet kid, used him as bait to grab his dad, and sent him to a detention center in Texas.

Reader, the fourth thing could be a McChicken sandwich and this would still not be enough food for 2,000 calories over 3 meals.
Brooke Rollins: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing. So there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money."

As long as the average American never finds himself more than 4 years old, we should be set.

This idea, re-hemisphering, came from Putin in the first Trump admin, as Fiona Hill has testified. It then featured in Project 2025, and is now operative US policy doctrine used to justify an unprovoked regime change war.

In spirit, content and intent, this was really no different to a Klan rally.

The exception being the wholesale absence of outrage in mainstream media.

This period of history will be an indictment on those standing silent, as much as the monster himself.
Trump: "Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is. With her little turban. I love her. She comes in, does nothing but bitch ... we ought to get her the hell out ... she's here illegally."

The crowd in Pennsylvania then starts chanting "send her back!"

I'll say again: we are oddly selective about the government services about which we will say, they operate at a loss.

We say Amtrak and the post office "lose money" but we never say highways, the court system, the Pentagon, etc lose money
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

This is a great time to see this post, for the people who need to see it.
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

Really hope this point about dignity is true.
Between Sliwa and Brad Lander probably the best thing you can do as a public figure right now (even if you’re odious! like Curtis!) is lose gracefully being exactly who you are. People are desperate for dignity to make a comeback and they’ll reward you later.

On the bright side. If trump steals $230 million directly from US taxpayers, there’s no way that action could be an official duty covered under the SCOTUS immunity ruling. Right?
