Fire is great. We couldn't have built civilization without it.

Capitalism is great. We couldn't have built civilization without it.

but free market capitalism isn't the solution to everything, just like we don't light everything on fire just because it burns.

Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.

Nintendo actually produced a couple of arcade cabinets in the mid-1980s, like the VS. System, which could play some NES games in 2-player time-limited modes. Here's a flyer for the cabinet.

Peep the Star Wars-esque outfit on the guy on the right, modeled after C-3P0.

Some arcade owners complained about the size of the cabinet above, so Nintendo came out with a couple smaller models. Here's one for Dr. Mario.

After 1986, the Nintendo Playchoice-10 offered a selection of NES games. This cabinet had two stacked screens -- the top screen was used for displaying gameplay hints.

In the case of Metroid, the top screen could show a map, similar to how many games of the much later Nintendo DS used two screens.

The princess left a note behind, explaining why she ran away.

"She disagrees with what she was taught," the queen said.

"Embroidery and such?" chuckled the king. "Classic."

"It's not needle-work she objects to. She likes that. She rejects the nobility of the nobility, and our right to rule."

Reporting on Homeland Security’s seige of Minneapolis. “No one…is even really bothering with the pretext that they’re here to make the city safer. This is Donald Trump’s revenge campaign, and they’re the foot soldiers.” [theverge.com]
How much can a city take?
But locals are organizing to keep each other safe from ICE agents.

What’s it like to live in America with a domestic military occupation? Minnesota has the answer.

for all the analysis of what went wrong with liberalism, there's been very little said (or very little usefully said) about what the hell happened to mainline conservativism

one day it occupied a big stretch of the ideological spectrum, the next, gone

The extremist lurch of the GOP is in many ways the only political story of the last 30 years and for the most part all media has done is pretend the opposite is true.
Read this excellent piece.

Buckle is right. Liberalism is alive and well -- in fact, more popular & more activist than any time since Reagan.

Liberals did not become fascists. Conservatives became fascists.

Liberalism did not die. The center-right died so the far-right might live.

This is so unnecessary. There's no reason for any of this. We are pouring our wealth and soft power down a toilet but we could STOP DOING THIS AT ANY TIME

Like, Congress could just...stop him. The Supreme Court might issue a ruling today that could just...stop him. He's just one really stupid dude!
"We have tried appeasement, we need to stop because it doesn't work and it's no longer an option" is the fucking RUBICON and we are now across it.
