Things are bad, they're really bad, but the past six months have really highlighted how the Christian understanding of evil as a fundamentally perverted, inward-focused, unimaginative phenomenon—a darkness that not only shrinks away from light but also can't even understand it—remains undefeated.

part of why we are driving ICE absolutely mad is that we are using tactics that do not really permit them to legally arrest us. they cannot operate the way they want to operate when we have eyes on them.

they want to be a secret police and we simply will not let them be secret

Re: the latter group of priests in this headline, current events are really exposing how many American Christians - of all political and theological stripes - think of their faith primarily in terms of aesthetic & lifestyle preferences rather than as a set of serious moral and spiritual commitments

It's funny, in a gallows-humor sense, to read the social media of conservatives trying to defend this regime. Their defenses are weak, halfhearted, reliant entirely on innuendo and insinuation.

Logging off now.

Read the final sentence of this post and literally felt my gorge rise. Sickening evil.
The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.

Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.
Analysis by The Marshall Project of ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project found that the Trump administration’s revival of family detention has swept thousands of children into ICE custody. At least 3,800 children under 18, including 20 infants, have been booked since Trump took office.

To paraphrase Pope Francis, love demands that we stop the oppressor and abuser from committing oppression and abuse. We cannot forget what’s happening, because to forget is to hand them the tools to hurt other people again. None of these men should be granted power over another, ever again.
People are kidnapping preschoolers and macing fully restrained protesters because they like the power to make others suffer, and I need us all to burn into our memories what they’re doing now because they’re definitely going to be asking for grace and forgiveness in the not too distant future.

We're about two weeks from Amy Klobuchar tweeting out "MORE 👏 WOMEN 👏 ICE AGENTS 👏 " and the New York Times publishing a news story that's like "Klobuchar bolsters gender equity among the secret police, but will it be enough to flip the Senate?"

We are now firmly in the stage of this regime where people are dying in concentration camps. Anyone who is still calling for "civility" or "reform" or "bipartisanship" in the face of this news should be regarded as a collaborator and an obstacle to what must be done to bring these horrors to an end.

I was a college freshman coming back from Christmas vacation for the first time, so I didn't have a strong grasp of how public transit from the airport to my suburban college worked. Got lost in the South Loop with my suitcases from home. (This was before smartphones and GPS.) (1/3)

Not exaggerating even a little: my post-college decision to stay in Chicagoland instead of moving back to New Mexico was influenced significantly - if not primarily - by the fact that I wanted to live in a place with lots of nearby movie theaters
