While David Ellison kowtows to Trump's demands, apologizes for CBS News coverage the president doesn't like and assures him that he'll make "sweeping changes" at CNN if he buys Warner Bros, Paramount has stayed silent about its boss appeasing the White House.

Paramount chief does damage control over MTG interview that incurred Trump’s wrath
While the Ellisons have looked to temper the president’s rage over the Marjorie Taylor Greene sitdown, they’ve also assured Donald Trump that they’d make sweeping changes at CNN if Paramount buys War...

this is the dumbest idea I've ever heard and an absolute disservice to the incredible journalists still at The Washington Post
The Washington Post is launching a personalized AI podcast, saying users will be able to "shape their own briefing, select their topics, set their lengths, pick their hosts and soon even ask questions using our Ask The Post AI technology."

with every passing day, I am in awe of the journalists still working hard at the Post despite the shitstorm of shitty ideas shitting their way on the building every day from upper management.
Hope it's a massive flop and ridicule magnet. Those journalists are the only reason I reluctantly still subscribe.

Here is a true story.

During Trump’s first term, The Post got a tip that his doctor — the guy with the long hair who signed that first “healthiest guy ever” letter — wanted to spill the beans. He lived in Westchester, up near where I lived at the time. So I was tasked with talking to him. 1/

Mackenzie Scott's blog post on her $7.2 billion in annual giving is worth reading in full.

Her observations are even more stark when you consider her ex, who doesn't seem to have the same appetite to give or even fund the newsroom he owns: yieldgiving.com/essays/we-ar...

The Washington Post's TikTok guy @davejorgenson.bsky.social has launched his own media outlet. Local News International — which Jorgenson launched with two of his former WaPo colleagues — is taking a social-first approach to journalism, telling news to younger audiences on TikTok and YouTube.

This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

The giant, awesome newsroom that Will Lewis inherited meant you could lose probably 100 top news staffers and still be publishing big and vital work of this caliber. But I wish they had the personnel to hit like this twice as often—crazy things are happening all over town and accountability is key

True! Bezos is not exercising *control* over the news side, and this story is huge. Also true: if he hadn’t tried to run the paper as a whole into a wall it wouldn’t have lost a couple ranks of its most celebrated reporters and editors and would be publishing stories like these three times as often.
I haven't seen much talk about The Washington Post breaking perhaps the most important and damaging story of Trump's second term. (Yes, The Intercept had it first.) I keep telling you that Bezos has restricted his damage to the opinion section. wapo.st/4olRXM5
