Owen is right to highlight this. As taxpayers, we already paid. All this will do is introduce higher prices to all consumers and businesses.
This GOTT guidance is Treasury-brained and low-key hostile to #opendata – it starts from the premise that organisations in the UK public sector should look to commercially exploit "their" knowledge assets, with no real expectation that they should prioritise the wider public interest.

Big piece in POLITICO asking about the independence of Ireland's process of appointing people to its Data Protection Commission. There is deep unease in Brussels about Ireland appointing a former Meta lobbyist as Meta's watchdog. Now questions about who was involved.

It’s also a Murdoch paper, though. Now overall you do not particularly have to hand it to Murdoch, but: not although, but in fact *because* he’s been a RW activist media owner since at least the ‘80s, he’s used to bucking and threatening and making demands of governments, not simply complying.

I don’t believe the comparison is accurate because, as far as I know, there is no official story here: the authorities have never even offered an innocuous explanation, or any explanation, for the immunity for unspecified co-conspirators—or for the luxuriously soft prison time which Epstein served.
Epstein is like 9/11 or JFK in that the most lurid theories are certainly untrue but the official story is full of lies by omission.
