When reviewing The Muppet Movie, Roger Ebert said he could find out how they made Kermit ride a bike, but he didn’t want to know. He preferred to think he did it himself. I think about that all the time.

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

ICE has completely broken our social contract.

They manipulate social trust and are creating lasting damage to our most basic social foundations
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

Oh good, I see we're back to the slopware discourse and trying to witch hunt people who use LLMs.

Fucking tiresome 🙄

I've accumulated photos of nearly 40 different birds now, so I decided to make a dedicated page for them on my blog!

Was debating whether to branch out into other animals and bugs but I think I will keep it simple and just go with birds for now

honestly, "multiple arguments of a function are of the same type" would be a pretty dope clippy pedantic lint

After coming across loggingsucks.com over the Christmas break and being inspired by it, I finally had the time yesterday to sit down and start moving Zed Cloud over to wide events.

It's not because your agent can do something with 12 tool calls and 20k tokens that it should.

For example, Obsidian CLI has a command called "orphans" that finds files with no incoming links.

Now your agent can get a deterministic answer in 1 millisecond instead of 4 minutes.

the wild thing is that while there's good reasons to not use one language across your entire software stack from bare metal microcontrollers to web front-end, the one language you can do this with and have it not be an objectively stupid choice is probably rust.
legit I use (micro)Python a fair bit for rapid prototyping on embedded, especially if I *know* for sure i am going to throw away the prototype or perf just does not matter one bit. if I think the prototype might become production I will often try and write it in rust.

Incredible how every single feature that Go has deliberately omitted in the name of simplicity makes Go code more complicated and difficult to reason about
Listen I know I'm unbearably Rustpilled but I really quite resent that I'm working on this Go code and trying to do an analysis of whether I can get rid of a deep-copy or whether the data behind this pointer might be mutated anywhere.
