I've begun the 2nd book in my stupid little series, because I was stuck on the first one. Some chapter titles:

The High Priests

The Time of Monsters

The Paper Daughters

At the Crossroads

The Box in the Mountains

They Who Dream Alone

A Savage Place

The Struggle of Nations

The Dust of Empire
If I’m ever not single for Valentine’s Day, I want it to be with someone who understands that the greatest love story of modern times is between a frog and a pig.

As someone who was addicted to Origins and Legends but never played the original, this is exciting BUT

I would still have liked them to remaster the entire trilogy. I’m sure they will someday. Everything gets a remaster these days.

Oldboy, the only other movie I’ve seen by Park, was simply dark (and boy, was it ever). This is more black comedy, with characters who take surprising-but-internally-consistent actions and a viciously subtle ironic ending. I keep thinking about little details. It grows inside my brain. 95/100.

This is more troubling than rolling back DEI. If Target, for example, bends to anti-diversity demands, people can respond by shopping elsewhere. In most cases, you can’t just pick another utility company, and even if you can, they’re probably in on it, too.

I almost feel bad for people who’ve never had a shit boss who thought they were the greatest. Anyone who’s been through that can damn near predict what anybody in the Trump regime will do or say before they say or do it. You can tell who’s had it easy at work by who is shocked daily at this shit.

All these AI commercials are more or less being subsidized by our tax dollars. In other news, I am now radicalized.

The Budweiser Super Bowl commercial almost makes me want to drink some of their beer.

A clarification: if a MAGA does want out, and we hope to ever win and keep power, we have to help them escape. I’m only saying we don’t have to let unrepentant bigots back into our metaphorical houses. Being smug I-told-you-so’s towards those who change is why we can’t get anywhere in the polls.
I’ve actually seen this sign in the wild, and in a liberal-leaning area where the homeowner is very well aware that saying those things is hurtful to their neighbors. Maybe some day some MAGAs can be trusted, after major de-cultification, with reintegration into polite society. This kind cannot be.

It’s really a shame to see this from Aronofsky. He’s produced some great National Geographic shows, and I’m even a big fan of Noah. Hopefully after this is roundly panned and bombs, he learns some kind of lesson.

I’m hearing a lot about something called Bad Bunny. I’m just going to assume “bad bunny” is what some people call their genitals.

“Who’s been a bad bunny? You’ve been a very naughty rabbit.”

The Muppets should be the only act allowed at the Kennedy Center.
production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

This is an incredible post. “I know artists are worth actual money, but I don’t want to pay it so I’m gonna use AI to steal it instead.”

Don’t ever think the tech bros don’t understand the scam they’re pulling. They know art is work. They know artists earn their pay. They only pretend otherwise.

There are no gorillas in The Lion King. Trump is a raging, unhinged racist who will go to his deathbed obsessed with the fact that the black President is better and more loved than he will ever be.

I’m glad someone else said this first. I attended midnight releases for the last two books. I exchanged debates on what would happen with other fully grown adults who were by no means dumb. Most of the movies are legit. Yet people act as if only idiots and bigots ever liked it.
People definitely do this. “Actually the Harry Potter books were always terrible” is a post facto take most of the time unless you’re Ursula Le Guin. People also claim that Woody Allen and Louis CK were never funny, that R. Kelly sucked, etc. See it all the time

What are some of your biggest gaming disappointments? I have two off the top of my head:

1. Mario Kart World, which was supposed to be a leap forward but instead had a desert as an open world and fewer modes and less content than its own decade-old predecessor. A sorry excuse for a system-seller.

If it were any other administration, I might believe they had the consumers’ interests at heart. With this one, though, it’s obvious Trump is just looking for any excuse to hand WB to his pals at Paramount. That deal will get rubber stamped after scuttling this one.
