Despite the overall climate, the left has had major political gains in recent years. There's also a wave of on the ground activism unlike any I have ever seen. But on the protest front, there do seem to be some dysfunctional
organizational tics.

Abortion can be recriminalized by 172 Conservative votes in Parliament.

We can either have states that prosecute murders of their residents by federal agents, or we can have an unchecked federal goon army free to murder despite the law. We can have an opposition party that votes against arming and funding these goons, or we can have cowed opposition in name only.

The realistic part of me will say that you should not assume this is some sort of open and shut case against the officer, either in civil court or in criminal court (if any kind of charges were brought, which I doubt).

Unfortunately today's events may help non-Americans understand why Americans aren't constantly rioting in the streets: it's because the cops, and now ICE, shoot to kill.

It's a testament to the extraordinary bravery of everyday people that they still document and protest neighbors being taken.
