I was walking along through the park when I heard a completely unexpected “Hey Matty!” from the one and only @tombasgen.bsky.social and now I suddenly feel optimistic about things for some reason.

Cheers to all who remember the 11/11/2011 brewhaha. Those were innocent days.

Yep. A lot of time, energy, and anguish over a massively important bill that wasn't well thought out. Lots of political capital spent, lots of toes stepped on, bruising backroom arm twisting, and enemies made between friends.

Hmmm. Perhaps I was correct back in the day that Dems should have passed a transportation bill, a housing bill, and anything else they wanted to pass at the time and then do the healthcare fight.

At the heart of the impasse is a debate about expiring subsidies for health insurance. It's the latest chapter in a fight over Obamacare that has dominated Congress since the law was signed in 2010.
How an enduring debate over health care sparked a now record-long shutdown

Why did that UMN ad that just ran during the Gophers game have the Driven to Discover tagline in it? It’s being discontinued.

I re-uped Netflix to finally watch squid games s3 and stranger things later this month and I’m probably going to be crying all month.

I got a letter from a Jehova’s witness the other day
I opened and read it
It said they were suckers
They wanted me to read scripture or whatever

So I just finished The Studio S1. I love it. I like all of the performances and the self-reflexive jokes about filmmaking/cinema. I do have to say that Ike Barinholz is awesome in it although I did wonder if he was a Wahlberg brother for a minute. Sorry.

I put the drone up from the 7th floor rooftop, planning on getting some super moon shots, but it was getting pushed around by the wind quite a bit just about 15 feet above the deck and it’s not a tiny weak drone. No way I’m risking it for a shot of the moon w/ nothing interesting near it.

When you’re in for the annual checkup:

Dr.: How many drinks per would you say you consume?

You: Ahhh, I try to keep it limited. It fluctuates, you know? Probably, eh, six to twelve?

Dr. (Thinks to themselves). Ok. 12 to 24.
