the real glory of world war two was that it involved a warrior cult being ground down and beaten to a pulp by people who would rather have been doing something else.
Hegseth: "Maximum lethality -- not tepid legality. Violent effect, not politically correct. We're gonna raise up warriors. Not just defenders."

one of the things that's so invigorating about Mamdani's win is how upset the right seems to be. it shouldn't matter to them what flavor of Democrat runs New York City, but they're unnerved because they know that his style of progressive populism has broad appeal.

Same reason McConnell helped to acquit him, Roberts gave him immunity, and Hindenburg made Hitler chancellor. The arrogance of believing they can control the fire and he’ll do what they want. Look at the “anti Trump” R’s still cheering his attacks on DEI.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

one of the tics of the modern right is that they will say they are “anti-establishment” but they won’t specify what the nature of their challenge to the establishment is, because what they really mean is that they’re opposed to liberal democracy.
It would be so much braver and more honest if the "politically tribeless tribe" would just admit they want Trump to win — and that they don't really have any major problems with him or anything he's done or promises to do.

reactionaries sell “housewife” as an aspirational lifestyle choice, but the people selling it, from TikTokers to senators, are by definition not housewives. that’s because what they’re really endorsing isn’t being a housewife per se, it’s the subjugation of women within the household
Katie Britt is a US Senator. Doesn't that mean she's not a housewife by definition? Senator is a demanding, high-powered job outside the house.

Or has the reality TV franchise changed the meaning to the point that "housewife" now simply means "married woman who is home sometimes," AKA "wife"?

No one should ever take Elon Musk seriously.
"Their conversation was preceded with a presentation: a video montage of tweets that could have been sent to spread information about the Holocaust if it were taking place in the time of social media, concluding that X could have saved lives."

what. what. why. forward.com/opinion/5769...
Is Musk's visit to Auschwitz the kind of Holocaust remembrance we really want?
If remembrance is to not only remember that something happened but how and why it happened, then Musk's Auschwitz visit abjectly failed.
