The thing is - these results make me pretty furious.

All these people knew better in 2024. But they voted for Trump anyway. Places like Loudoun county, Arizona, all the annoying suburbs which went redder than normal.

They fucking knew. I’m glad they’ve woken up but what a hole to crawl out of…
You know, just winning Trump +10+ districts in the South by 20-30 points.

Democrats are sleeping giants. Refusing to push the gas. Held back by ideals of decency and fairness and blah blah blah.

It’s like Truman and FDR. Sure we want to be nice. But if you push us beyond our breaking point, we punch back, hard.
The GOP is entering the “finding out” phase of gerrymandering. By the same metric, Dems got almost 40% of the vote in Utah and currently hold zero congressional seats due to gerrymandering

A lot of the Republican voter suppression efforts are really really misreading the moment.

They are stuck in 2020. Pandemics over. Dems have taken over high income high propensity voters.

By all means. Make voting harder for the disengaged. Dems will win even bigger.
We’re looking at another very big Dem overperformance tonight—in a Trump+13 district. Dem Chasity Martinez is up 61-39 with more than half the vote in. Notably, like in TX last weekend, the e-day vote has been even *better* for her than the early vote. voterportal.sos.la.gov/graphical

I really really told myself not to get my hopes up. The Deep South special elections have been meh for Dems this year especially. But just wow.

Yea, I get why so many R’s are choosing to retire.
With nearly half of the vote reporting in the Louisiana #HD60 (Trump+13) special election:

Chasity Martinez (D)- 61%
Brad Daigle (R)- 39%

Martinez is currently outperforming Harris's 2024 margins by around 30 points throughout the district.

He’s so good. Also hot. He’s very good and hot.
Ossoff: We were told that MAGA was for working-class Americans. But this is a government of, by, and for the ultra-rich. It’s the wealthiest Cabinet ever. This is the Epstein class. They are the elites they pretend to hate.

Jesus fucking Christ, could we please just have more people like this. And fewer like Trump. And Kristi Noem. And Jonathan Ross. And Jesus Ochoa. Please.
Mamdani: "I speak of Renee Good, whose final words to the man who murdered her were, 'I'm not mad at you.' I speak of Alex Pretti who died as he lived, caring for the stranger. ICE shot him bc he did something they could never fathom ... let us offer a new path: one of defiance through compassion."

trump creating the incentive and permission structure for democrats to do insane 2010-era gerrymandering of their own may turn out to be one of the biggest self-owns of all time. dems are now pretty likely to emerge with an advantage from the 2025-26 redistricting wars

This is 1930s style racism. Donald Trump is a racist piece of shit and he was raised by a racist piece of shit father and mother.
Trump posted on Truth Social a video depicting the Obamas' heads atop ape bodies. Tim Scott says "it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House."

I'd be curious to hear from Sen. Scott what are the second- and third-most racist things he's seen out of this White House.

Imagine if the 78 year old president had spent 4 years supporting and highlight his VP choice so when it came time for her to run she’d have an established record and visibly which would help her get over the 2-3 point hump in the swing states to win.

Imagine.

You are seeing parts of the far right inch publicly up to where they always have been privately: that older middle aged men have a right to exploit teenage girls as the Natural Order of Things.

They don't really have a big problem with what Trump, Epstein and his friends did and don't care.

The Romans had an appropriate postmortem punishment for evil men like this: Damnatio Memoriae. All your statues were destroyed, your name chiseled from all monuments, all public records of your existence erased.

In death the narcissist would be utterly forgotten except as an object lesson.

I don’t know how to explain it. But as I hit my 30s and got closer to 40, the guys I found attractive got older and older.

My husband is getting older with me and I find the salt and pepper on his beard nice! And it’s making me realize it’s not normal to be old and like 16 year olds.
“I do not think that 50 year old men should be having sex with 16 year old girls. But “
This level of apologia (from Megan McArdle in a podcast with Josh Barro and Ross Douthat) is fucking appalling. Idk what else there is to say.

On the one hand I want American democracy to survive.

On the other hand, if they broke elections and stole them to install themselves as autocrats and the idiot idiot voters who gave them power over fucking egg prices have to live in the dystopian hellscape they elected.

Well…🤷‍♀️

An impressive young Democrat, Navy veteran, and state senator Patrick Schmidt is in the Kansas U.S. Senate race to challenge the weak Republican incumbent Roger Marshall. A recent poll had Trump's approval at only 48% in the state. A winnable Senate seat, IMO.

The only answer - the only thing that might correct their abhorrent behavior - is electoral punishment so severe that it leaves no doubt.
