Whoops, I’m president now 😂
Soooo I’m an interdimensional warlock-ninja.

Or a consulting detective, if we’re counting short stories.

I said roughly ten percent of the things I could have said about Rob Reiner.
Remembering Rob Reiner, who made movies for people who love them
The movies Reiner directed, from A Few Good Men to The Princess Bride, weren't just good — they were people's favorites, the types of films people come back to again and again.

Wrote about how the late, great Rob Reiner had the most impossible 7-movie beginning to any director's career, and yet that's not even what he was most famous for:

Taking a break from the sickening tragedy to focus on the beauty for a moment. Rob Reiner achieved something so rare and coveted that artists and entertainers dream of and rarely achieve: cultural permanence. How many times have you made a reference to something going to 11? Shouted "Inconceivable"?

An adaptation of The Dark is Rising (and the rest of the series) that is actually good and, like…accurate to the books.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

Thanksgiving is now just me and my parents. We celebrate on Wednesday and my father makes whatever we agree we feel like eating this year. We talk, maybe we watch a movie. Then I can spend the next 4 days straight on my couch in sweatpants. This approach is fine. Any approach is fine!
I don’t know how your family works, but I know how Event Journalism works, and I’m just saying: Take all the food content as fun, as exploratory, as interesting.

But you can just make dinner. It’s fine. When you stop enjoying thinking about it, think about it less.

Happy Thanksgiving! (/fin)

I mean, do what you want, I can’t stop you, but if your “podcast” is only available on video I am not watching it and if it’s *also* available on video…well, I’m not watching that either, probably.
*banging a metal pot with a wooden spoon very loudly*

people want to LISTEN to podcasts!!!!!!!!!!!!

*hitting you on the forehead with the spoon*

STOP PIVOTING TO VIDEO

Them: Hey, Marnie, how come you’ve been watching The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Bob Newhart Show?

Me: *gestures wearily at the world *

(adding in I will not consume anything post-apocalyptic any more; I just cannot)
Unless I absolutely must for professional reasons, I will not be watching your nuclear war movie. I will not be watching your incredibly bleak and depressing murder show. I will not be watching your artistic despair. It’s nothing personal, I just don’t order water when I’m already bailing my boat.

The No Kings March in Chicago is one of the largest gatherings I’ve seen here. Looking down from by the river, the crowd stretches for blocks down Michigan Ave and wraps around Wacker Dr. This video is from a few minutes ago and the end of the protest is nowhere in sight.

Updates about what's been happening in Chicago can be found mostly on Threads. If you have an account there look for independent news spots like Block Club Chicago, The Tribe, Chicago Reader, & WBEZ.

I'm told that nearly none of my friends or family outside of the city knows what's going on. Scary.
