I am sick to my stomach
DHS said that the woman CBP shot in the chest in Portland was “involved” in a gang shooting.

Her ~involvement~ was that suspected gang members sexually assaulted and robbed her.
After Border Patrol shot two people in Portland, DHS claimed they were "vicious gang members" tied to a past shooting.

But records I obtained reveal a US prosecutor has since directly contradicted DHS, saying, "We're not suggesting he is a gang member." My dive into how DHS' claims have collapsed:

Here’s something! I was POLLED about this case. They changed some details but def had to be this case. I took it in the last week! The poll was focused on the hospitals responsibility. I’ve Never seen a poll about a legal case!
I first worked on this story while at @opb.org. We were not the only publication to pay attention though. Under a steady local media spotlight, public officials did finally acknowledge internal problems with how the case was handled and bring new criminal charges. www.oregonlive.com/crime/2026/0...

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

Almost exactly 18k saved in this household thanks to PfA. ❤️
Each Preschool for All seat provides economic relief to families, saving up to $18,600 a year per child. When all 7,400+ recently allocated seats fill, families enrolled could collectively save $138 million annually.

That’s money back into families pockets they can reinvest into our local economy.

Want to be crystal clear that when I say "overall filers" I mean the number of households (7%) who pay this tax has grown even if the tippy top of this top 7% did not. The bottom line is that overall we have seen growth in the no. of households earning over 200k/yr! www.portland.gov/council/dist...

Grateful and inspired by the @friendsofpfa.bsky.social and all of the partner organizations that organized a massive turnout to protect one of most common sense programs I have seen. Truly inspiring work.
Over the past month, our coalition and our community came together to say, NO CUTS, NO COMPROMISES. Thank you for every email, phonecall, public comment, and PB&J assembly line for toddlers at evening meetings. Together, we won Preschool for All- AGAIN! The tax cuts are paused!

This right here! P4A taxpayers all about P4A as is!
SO PROUD of my beautiful amazing girlfriend for testifying against P4A indexing *as a* P4A taxpayer. The indexing proposal was tabled later in this meeting and everyone who spoke up contributed.

It’s time! Join @friendsofpfa.bsky.social for a rally TODAY. Then MC listening session about indexing. What’s that? Who cares. It’s not what we voted for, uses false narratives, & won’t improve programs or access. I’m a PfA mom and a certified smart person. I know indexing is the wrong question.

Some ppl are shouting about how the preschool for all tax is driving ppl out of Multco. Here’s some information data about what ppl pay. The cost of moving would be more than this tax. If you + partner’s taxable income is 270k, you owe $1k. No one is moving for $1000.

Thank you Councillor for your unwavering support!
It was great to be in a room full of families and local leaders to say: we support Preschool For All! East Portland has the most families out of all the districts, so it’s very important to me that we keep growing PFA.

Yall! We need help. Pls reach out! Even if, and maybe especially if you don’t have a kid a PfA. Don’t have kids and understand how this matters? Pay the tax and are totally fine with it? Or pay the tax and know that it on its own it’s not going to make you run away from the county? Please share!
you could even do more than this. Call them. Chalk the sidewalk outside the county building. Sky writing
