In every industry, man. Execs and managers think there's magic shortcuts but it's all fiction.

And artists+writers have been banging this drum since late 2022!

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Minister for Communications and Media Patrick O'Donovan has hit back at claims that Ireland is lax about regulating companies like X because of the high levels of corporation tax we receive from tech firms.

Minister says it is 'utter rubbish' that Ireland is soft on X because of corporation tax
O’Donovan said it is “beneath” politicians to argue such a point.

No checks or warning messages just straight into it.
A number of colleagues have done the same this morning.

Sooo uh, apparently Ko-Fi unlisted my my page because it spontaneously got so much attention they assumed it was a scam and made me send in a bunch of verification that I’m a real person that they’ll “verify within 7 days”. So that… sucks… but thank you everyone for supporting me that hard
I just saw what everyone’s contributions to this have been after a long day of customer service emails and phone calls and I’m so grateful to all of you I could start crying again ;~;
But uh… I guess I have a ko-fi if you’re taking pity on me and want to throw a couple bucks my way while I figure out what I can do ko-fi.com/coelasquid

A caricature of Brian Cowen in the nip led to the scrubbing of RTÉ news archives and a Garda visit to a radio station within 24 hours, just to give a sense of proportion to this foot-dragging.
“So now you have the Gardaí, the AI Minister and multiple legal experts including @iccl.bsky.social saying the legislation is all there already - it’s going to be increasingly difficult for the Government not to take a position on this”.

Disgusting. Genai doesn't deserve to be shown because there's nothing worth seeing. People who use it don't get to have a spot in an art show. There is NO reason to allow it because every space it takes up -art show panel, booth, table- belongs to a real creator.
Comic-Con should be a celebration of illustrators, comic artists, writers and so on. Elevating the actual craftsmen and women who make the works that fans love!

Instead it opens the door to slop that can only exist due to the stolen work of those same creatives, to then displace creatives. Gross!

I read the rules, and AI art cannot be for sale and must be labeled AI. But once you let it in the Art Show becomes an AI bar and no artist will drink there. So what you said. They are testing the waters so we gotta fight it now.

“One day, a woman wrote to me on Signal, asking me not to respond. She lived alone, she messaged, and planned to die that weekend. Before she did, she wanted at least one person to understand: Trump had unraveled the government, and with it, her life.” @hannahnatanson.bsky.social essay:
I am The Post’s ‘federal government whisperer.’ It’s been brutal.
One reporter’s effort to show how Trump was transforming government brought her 1,168 new sources — and nearly broke her.

Reading Agatha Christie's lesser work does show you how much of what counts as "fair play" in mysteries depends on the assumption of shared social context.

Just read a short story where the crucial clue was, as Miss Marple says, "Gardeners don't work on Whit Monday. Everybody knows that."
